Georg Muffat was one of the baroque era‘s great cosmopolitans: born in the region of Savoy (France) with Scottish ancestry, he studied in France and Italy, before working in France, Germany, Austria and Czechia. His music combines these different influence into a European synthesis: he wrote "as I mix the French manner with the German and Italian, I do not begin a war, but perhaps rather a prelude to the unity, the dear peace, desired by all nations.« (Florilegium primum, 1695)"
Sebald Manderscheidt was born into a family of organ builders in Nuremberg (Germany) but moved in Austria before settling in Fribourg (Switzerland). His organ combines south German with Italian and French traits, making it an ideal partner for Muffat‘s music.
