Balanchine's fecundity is simply amazing. That he could choreograph both this ballet and Prodigal Son and Serenade and Agon and and and - we have an entire catalog of Balanchine to draw from. Surely the greatest, most prolific choreographer of the 20th century.

Absolutely hands down. So well put! He's the greatest next to Petipa. He's unsurpassed in his genre. He's his own genre! I'm proud to be from the country he loved with all his heart. He is the sole reason for ballet in this country. Viva Balanchine!

Beautiful, stop the rambling, enjoy the show. I saw this performed by the San Fransisco Ballet and its was spectacular. It was performed as the Americans that were held hostage in Tehran were returning home, each dancer had a yellow ribbon around her neck and it was just outstanding, they got a standing O.

Damian Woetzel is spectacular in this! I was never an M. Tracy fan; I always felt she projected "cuteness" and a strange sort of "miniaturization" of dancing. Sure, she was tiny, but so was Kay Mazzo, who danced as though she was a hundred feet tall.

Miss Tracy, pretty, likeable, is a kind of Kaptsova around the house. He, rough, stiff, in Europe would dance like entertainer in night clubs.

ah well it might not be as technique sound as today, but that is all you have most of the time dancers that are statues machines, they dont know how to dance the role, just go through the motions all focused on form, not real feel or mime acting left unlike the past, and the nutcracker on pbs, well the costuming was good, but the dancing was sloppy it was a joke, and no feel or that balancine flamboyance he taught. the only ones that seem to have any life in dance are the russians and austrians.
@suzanneh8430
@suzanneh8430 7 лет назад
LOL, this is easier than Black Swan, a few breaks instead of 32 f turns without stopping -- need football player thighs for that! Plus, she's the bad girl in the story.
@mcmelc6026
@mcmelc6026 7 лет назад
Every ballet dancer if trained enough can do that many turns, but it'd be boring if they use that in every single ballet. Instead its amazing to see how the different steps are weaved together and coordinated perfectly with the music. :)
@anthonyvhoyos
@anthonyvhoyos 7 лет назад
Hahaha! You are a joke, and by the sounds of it have never danced professionally in your life.
@forrestgump5315
@forrestgump5315 6 лет назад
Theres a lot more to ballet than tricks, sure, doing 32 fouettés is difficult, but George Balanchine’s choreography was known to mess with dancers coordination. For example the en dedans pirouette combo that Tracy does at 7:15 messes with your balance a lot more than 32 fouettés would, not only are you doing turns moving forward, but you’re also switching what leg you stand on.

the new york city ballet today, the nutcraker two christmases ago they aired on pbs had good sets and costumes, but the dancing was sloppy and atrocious, not to mention much of dance in the theater today lacks feel, pure technique but no interperatation, save for the russian vagonova dancers. that they lost touch with how to dance the way balencine taught, and when they try to dance them today they do a lousy job most of the time that I was I am trying to say, In my opinion
