I love the way Carlin always tip toed up to the line, made you laugh, then put his arm around your shoulder and led you right over the line and made you uncomfortable as you laughed right along with the ridiculous stupidity of humanity... Oh, and then you went home thinking... and still laughing! :)LOL(:
I don't recall when the last capital punishment that was carried out...but the last one sentenced to death was in the 60's. So less than 60 years. Released on parole in 1969 because he was innocent, though not officially cleared until 2007. It was a travesty of justice due to many things, but the worst of it, he was only 14.
Spent some time in Canada (12 years as a teen into early 20's)... and I'm an Atheist (like George) and think the capital punishment thing is people taking belief all the way to 'Revenge is Mine, sayeth... bla, bla, bla'. Great video choice. :)
I agree!!! I'm an atheist too and I can bet that this is more funny to us then the believers. No offense, I respect everybody's opinion... Just saying. ☺️
Capital punishment makes sense only in terms of protecting the rest of society from more harm - it's not real punishment, as it not teach perpetrator anything. It's more of a warning for other potential perpetrators at most. Well, it also makes sense in economical terms, if in such country convicts can't do shitty, hard work as punishment. If they could simply clean sewers, work in mines or near dangerous substances, then it would be much better than killing them.
The problem that we run into..... is then the taxpayers have to support these guys while they are serving there life sentence! Which I think...is why some states have capital punishment! But it's not easy to get a conviction like that! There has to be A Lot of evidence supporting the case as well as certain criteria that has to be met. Before they will even consider trying a person for that type of conviction!
Personally, I don't believe in capital punishment. Killing someone is not punishing them because when you kill them they are no longer there to have the lesson taught to them. I am not against killing someone if you absolutely have to in order to save others, but when it comes to punishing someone for doing wrong, the punishment is only a punishment if they are alive to suffer through it. Someone killed a bunch of people and there is definite proof of it? Throw them in prison. Make them go through things that will teach them a lesson, or if there is something wrong with them that punishment won't help, then teach them better. If they cannot learn, then just keep them locked up so they can't hurt others.
Well George said it himself, it’s a religious ritual we’ve derived from our Judeo-Christian values, and the Bible, so there is still punishment after death. A lot of people forget.
@@screwmuckduck8905 No, there is no punishment after death. This isn't something forgotten, it simply does not exist. Yes, it's in religion and religious people believe in life after death, but the fact is that it simply isn't true.
Ryan does not smoke pot. I on the other hand do partake in the Mary Jane here and there. Surprisingly though, in this episode I did not haha. So maybe it’s my look. -Adam
Same thing as Ryan but in a mason jar. I was too lazy to get a glass from my kitchen so Ryan gave me a mason jar that was in his garage. Ryan makes his own tomato sauce haha -Adam.
@@CanadiansReact I am so glad you guys discovered George. I'm sure he has made you smarter and wiser. He did me. Try some of his earlier material like "Hello, Goodbye", "Losing Things" and "Dogs and Cats". A Joyous Holiday Season and Happy New Year to you and yours. Stay safe and be well.
