Gerry Dee interviews Canada's Sports Hall of Fame Member Boxer George Chuvalo. Presented by Canadian Tire, for the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame 2014 Induction Celebrations.
Had his pro debut in 1956. 93 professional fights and his seat never touched the canvas. He may be the oldest living heavyweight contender or champion. Brian London died in June, 2021 at age 87.
I watched this guy come to my school in the 90s and cry on stage in an auditorium I believe his 3rd son "Steven" had just OD'd and died not long before that he warned everyone about the dangers of drugs and yet me and another kid snuck off to the washroom to smoke weed then we got caught and were sent home on a bus. George is prob the most physically and mentally tough person I have seen in my entire life. God bless him and R.I.P to his wife and 3 sons lost to suicide and drug overdoses. 🙏
Thanks whoever sent this message concerning 'Enry and George Chuvalo...Come to think if it....I cant remember them 'getting together' either,,,Thanks anyway Neil...?
George Chuvalo, one of the toughest men to lace up a pair of gloves, I'm a huge fan. I never heard of Gerry Dee but we have a 10 year old at our gym that I doubt you could last 30 seconds with, its easy to talk when you have no way of proving something
Chuvalo never fought Henry Cooper. Chuvalo wanted to fight Cooper for the Commonwealth title but Cooper's manager George Wicks didn't want it. Chuvalo was a rough customer and there were easier and more lucrative fights out there for Cooper
Jeff Riessman - Let's see, we heard from George, who fought both Ali & Frazier...then we hear from you, who hasn't even seen either of the three men, in the ring. So, who am I going to believe? Where do people like you get the arrogance, to decide who is faster, and the degree to which they are? Only people who received punches from both Ali & Frazier, can attest as to which is faster...not a knowitall, beer-belly, couch-potato = You! FYI, {and being so ignorant...you need a lot of information} Joe Frazier had a deadly fast left; and was actually a harder puncher than Ali...every fighter who fought both men stated that point.
@@ronbonora7872 Your reply is refreshing. While I post various opinions, and witnessed knowledge, be aware that you are 1-in-500 who can see clearly. "Jeff" is likely an Ali fanboy, and could never report honestly. He's far too bias.
@@justplainbrad7713 Can you not make your point, without throwing personal insults at the guy (calling him arrogant and ignorant)? He is entitled to his opinion, just as you are to yours. There is far too much of this on social media.
@@joekavanagh7171 He said George Chuvalo's opinion was wrong, and also crazy...that makes him arrogant and ignorant. Now with you backing him, that places you in the same boat. Hell, I'd even bet that you are both from the same generation. Birds of a feather....
Two time title challenger, robbed once, went distance with the best twice, once on 17 days notice, beat many top ten heavyweights and former champs, fought the best heavyweights ever, never dropped, involved in fight of the year, never had proper training or management, all the work he's done for youth ...ya that's about it.
