Man.. I met George Duke at a jazz Clinic on my 21st bday. He showed me a 7-3-6 progression that was light years ahead of my music brain at the time. He was so nice and down to earth. RIP GD!! at true gift.

I had the great honor to chat with George about a year ago @ BB Kings. I told him what a hero he'd been for me. He was very humble and said, 'I'm just a piano player...' No way, man!

You could see that George was sick...One of my biggest regrets was not seeing a GD live in concert. I am grateful for all who post his music and interviews.

I'm just finding out about George...Damn, got to meet him back in 09, the day before I underwent serious treatment. What a wonderful, soulful person. We hung out, talked and took pictures. I'm going to miss him dearly. R.I.P. you are the best at what you do George. We've lost a true treasure.

He notes that there’s a paucity of melody in many contemporary songs, and boy is he right. “What are you gonna remember 30 years down years down the line, a beat?” Listen to what people are blasting on the audio systems in their cars, or listen to what they’re playing on the sound system at the gym.

Such a kind soul and an amazing musician. I first got introduced to him from watching a live performance of Inca Roads by Frank Zappa. He has such a beautiful voice. Please can someone tell me what the song is that starts at 2:00?
