Glory to God for this gifted, talent man, (George Duke) & all the greats who are absent from the earth, BUT GOD!!! AMEN TO THESE GIFTED MUSICIANS ALSO! 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎸🎺🥁
5:07 That White man looks so damn nervous...like "what are we doing here, George?!". It's like he's unsure when George is going go to stop on the piano and transition! 😆
Man this song is gut wrenching and just beautiful, especially if you've been in a similar situation..do you see all that emotion in George...he obviously loved & still loves that woman....I can listen to this song forever, sometimes it draws tears....ty for this song GEORGE DUKE!
If you have lived in this life and been through anything like this this song will resonate with your soul!!! I remember being with my girlfriend at the time and another young lady that I was interested in was sitting right behind me on a long ride home in a 14-passenger van. Everyone kept asking me to put in one of my cassettes but I knew it was going to get heavy in there!!
Back when this first came out, this girl I used to date caught me singing this! She asked, what you know about that song?I said I know plenty, lol.I was 19 and she was 22!
This song does something to me. As the wife, I was once gravely hurt by these feelings until they happened to me. This song is about commitment. This is what it means to be human. I am never saying it's okay to step out but, as humans, we have to be willing to write about the way we feel. This song....one of my all time favorites. Always Stay true to your commitment.
5:28 Mr Jarreau knew George was playing his whole heart out... Absolute gem, unbelievable maestry playing the piano.... i'm in tears every time i hear this version!!!
May you and Al Jareau rest peacefully. Al and I share a birthday. Thank You both for all the eargasms. They helped me and brought me through many situations.
The Master at his best. No words could define what The Duke was doing. Along with my peers in Phokeng Village near Rustenburg, we always cherish and sing praises to one of the ultimate creative & gifted artists in the name of George Duke. He was and still is one of the best Artists ever graced our planet. What a TALENT!!!!!
A part of me wishes I'd lived in this era.. Where you can write a sweet letter to your girl... Not this WhatsApp junk.. I'm from South Africa by the way🇿🇦... "ain't rhyme and no reason" 😭.. I scream my lungs out everytime.. R.I.P Big Duke ♥️❤️❤️😥
My mom played this so much on constant replay but I said the same thing on the other live version of this...now that my mommy is gone, I can barely finish the song without breaking down...I miss you mommy, My Sherrie(Cheryl) 1960-2013❤️This is for you lady💋
Your message is so touching your mom has life everlasting just like george. She's with you. I knew george and miss him he was so....many good things. He would touch your heart.
I was there on the lawn. Best concert ever. This song means alot to me. It was like I felt everything he was feeling, threw his keys! My heart was feeling the same.. he's truly missed. Rip...king... Sleepless in Seattle...
Thanks for posting this, if I was still doing my college radio show, I would never play the album version again, I would have only played this version! Peace!
One of the greatest fusion artists ever.the man blended it all funk jazz soul Latin and more in a league of his own.he recorded some incredible music over the years.
Just sitting here listening to George Duke. I remember in an interview what the journalist asked George Duke he asked when you perform for the audience what do you give them: George Duke replies "I give them all I got and George duke which was my distant mentor/musical influence and inspiration: this live version had me in tears of joy and shaking my head in amazement because he gives it all stage presence, personality, motivation and being comical with his jesters in waving his hand he feeling the music, song, and the message and giving God the glory because he always mentioned in his interviews that he came up in church-being reared in etiquette, morals and values. Just him waving his hand each time is reminding that he always acknowledging God giving him praise, honor and glory and being that chosen vessel/minstrel like David. My God. I see myself in The maestro himself because I'm performing there's always a tear drop or two running down my face I'm feeling and that humbles me and the audience is feeling it because when the music is flowing it's reaching the hearts of others and the atmosphere is just shifting because God is sho-nuff intervening within it. I just let God use as he did David and George duke as I tickle those ivories on keys, or Hammond B-3 or Keytar. Yess!!
Also to c AL Jarreau standing by supporting him and Mr. Joe sample portray the doctor in this skit was hilarious and moving. May u both AL Jarreau and George Duke R.I. H. and I'll c u one soon to jam with you you're irreplaceable I'm gonna carry ur legacy forever through the music that I play for the audience when I dazzle, uplift, inspire, motivate, and move the crowd ur legacy and contributing to the music industry and giving back the community will live on forever.
One of the most beautiful and truthful songs ever written. Love don't love nobody. R.I.P. Mr. Duke. Your music is timeless and will last forever. If you've ever been in love this song will speak to you.
Wow! You can see the love was and still was strong at the time he played this for the other woman! He let hisself get caught up in fell in love... again!! Lol that was some real emotions he was displaying! I hope his wife wasn’t there to see that! Lol that was amazing though fr!
I worked at a Jazz club a while back and had the opportunity to see Mr. Duke perform this song quite a few times live...As a matter of fact I Initially suggested that they book him since we routinely had Stanley Clark there....Suffice to say it was one of the best performances we had in my opinion during my tenure there and I had worked there for 14 years. Got to know his wife and son but Mr. Duke was kind of a quiet guy which I respected... RIP Sir Duke...
