In 1945 the Labour government wasn't interested in what the Jewish lobby wanted preferring to give the people of Palestine what they wanted a democratic state. I believe that by 1945 Britain wasn't the superpower it was and yeilded to pressure from the US and the Jewish lobby there. We must remember Britain was bankrupt then,seeking loans from the US and wasn't in a position to do what Britain wanted to do in Palestine.From my own study it seems all the trouble began when the U.N.partitioned Palestine rewarding one side with most of the land even though that side had the smaller population. Today Britain isn't a poor country and should support one state solution that is democratic with equal rights to all perhaps giving devolution powers to Gaza and the West bank. Let's hope this genuine man gets elected!!

The independent Adnan Hussain has made comments which are sectarian othering Craig as not one of us. Sadly such views are not uncommon in the more backward parts of the Pakistani community. And the ultimate irony maybe Hussain maybe a Labour stooge in the party's pay ! If Craig looses the real winners maybe be labour but the losers all round will be the Pakistani community being duped by one of their own paid to play on its own backward bigotry !
