I played the CD super Deluxe yesterday as I had a day off from work. The packaging is nice but there is nothing super deluxe about it compared to the John Lennon boxsets but that said the album is amazing and the outtakes and demos are a great listen. I've got the Plastic Ono Band Deluxe box set coming tomorrow, a year late but never mind! 😀
Congratulations Andrew, I seem to remember thinking, when it was first released, the ATMP labels were 'orange' to tie in with George's Sgt.Pepper's suit...
I too have had this 8 LP of ATMP for about a year and opened and played 2 days ago. It looks like in today's world it comes in a hard black box. I had this vinyl in the early 80s, and it came in a standard Record cover, not the hard black box.
Ive got it too when the price dropped to 105.00 its amazing album so happy to have it on vinyl and thanks for all your beatles related videos do love watching them 😊

I wasn't originally going to get it as it was something like $450 Australian, but I got a job in a home entertainment store and thanks to the staff discount, I was able to get it for almost half price and I'm so glad I did. It's well worth it. The new mix of the album is true to the original while scaling it back like George mentioned wanting to do when he remastered it for the 30th anniversary edition. The main reason I wanted it though was the outtakes which are really cool. There's so many songs that didn't make it to the original album, which is impressive when you consider it was already a 3 record set. The book is great too, very informative.
Bravo! Glad you got yourself a copy of the 8LP set! Of course, it is a pleasure to sit down & immerse yourself in the sounds & lyrics of this amazing recording on vinyl. It is another unique way of hearing All Things Must Pass. I personally picked up this version of the 50th anniversary immediately upon its release from a special record shop in the LA area. ( there was also a variety of promotional events happening around LA to celebrate its release). So enjoy the blissful experience, especially with all the fabulous additional demos & outtakes.
Welcome to the All Things Must Party!! I have 3 copies of AMTP, the original, the 30th and the 50th anniversary editions. As much as I love all the amazing "extras" we have on the 50th, in some ways I prefer the mix on the 30th, although the 50th does sound incredible too! While this will always remain at the top of my list of solo albums, unless Olivia is hiding a box of ultra secret extra tracks under the bed, I don't think I'll have a need to buy another copy ever again!
Glad you got hold of it for the price you did. Got it on day of release from HMV for £108.00,cancelled Amazon order as it was lot more expensive, but did get the 5 cd set from Amazon but was about £96.00. Vinyl box is an amazing set,enjoy and keep up the great work mate.

I bought the 3 CD set when it was first out, but I recently got the 5 CD/ Blu-Ray set, new, for just under $30 CAN. total. What a score! And I love those Day One demos with Ringo and Klaus. It was worth the cheap upgrade. I actually paid more the 3 CD set than the big one. Good thing I waited on the big set.

I bought it last year, but actually I don't think that was necessary. The 5CD+BluRay edition is enough to have, I think. But OK, let this vinyl box be in my collection either.
Might have to see if can find a deal on this. Similar to you I have the CD set and the 3 disc splatter LP. Felt I spent too much on that CD set for a soft back book. Would really just buy this for the book.
I must say this is one of my favourite box sets I have all together. The packaging is just so sturdy - and the musical content just doesn’t feel like a thing has been held back. This also marked for me the start of us vinyl lovers getting ALL of that extra content/outtakes, which Let It Be seemed to follow - and I hope continues onwards.

I liked the look of the coffee table book. Years ago when I first bought albums and hi-fi separates I could not help but think how my friends and I made shrines out of how we placed everything together. In a similar vein I could not help but wonder if one day there will be a box set that comes with it's own coffee table, on which it is to be mounted, for which you have to have the room first. The coffee table book/boxed set that came with it's own coffee table would be the ultimate in deluxe packaging...
Hi Legend, I mean Andrew. I have the 8 LP for ATMP and I have the 5 CD version. Today I compared the tracklist of both, and discovered the 5 CD is EXACTLY the same as the 8 LP. Now I'm wondering what the difference is with the 8 LP and the 5 LP? Do U happen to know??
Better late than never! I've not seen this set irresistibly priced on US Amazon yet, and if it doesn't happen soon I'll probably skip it because I need to budget for what's (hopefully) coming up this Fall. I'll somehow have to make do with the three versions of ATMP I already own.
Like you I was holding back to see if I could eventually pick this up at a better price … to me this is the sweet spot out of this reissue campaign… Well it paid off and a few months ago I won a set on eBay for £87…don’t know how I pulled it off cos I was expecting a bidding war tow the end of auction…but no … I got it … Must say the extra material is well good and much much more then a one or two off listen.. I hope your happy with your set and have no pressing problems as a few have been reported… Happy listening… and what next from Beatle world … Revolver ?….
Still selling for $170 in the U.S. I did grab the White Album Super Deluxe box off the Amazon UK site a couple weeks ago for a good price and it shipped from Poland. I don’t know if that suspect or not but I just want the book anyways.
I received my 8 LP set on release day but unfortunately returned them as 4 of the vinyl disks were dish warped and I heard many others were receiving warped disks so just got a refund instead of a replacement.
that is a really nice set, the book is deluxe and worthy of the name. I bought the 5CD set at I think £108 when it was released as this was something I was really looking forward to, and while the music is great, of all the deluxe sets I have and it pains me to say it, this still is the most underwhelming (in terms of presentation and packaging for what was meant to be "deluxe"). The book you have there compared with the paper back pamphlet with the 5 CD set is certainly a contrast. Looks good tho, excellent review. PS I like the remix of the colourised ATMP small CD box, yes it is loud, but dare I say I prefer it (remaster) to the remix, (non so contrary as folk I guess lol! Cheers Andrew. I’m glad I’m not the only one who sometimes fills in some damage with a black felt tip pen/marker lol. I did it for my 2012 stereo vinyl box and felt like maybe I’m only damaging it more, but there were a few white nicks that was too much for my ocd to handle lol

I was listening to George Harrisons ATMP 50th Anniversary, and I noticed an extra lead guitar part on the 3rd verse of: WHAT IS LIFE, and on: LET IT ROLL there is a deep voice repeating: Let it roll Sir Frank Crisp. I also have 30th Anniversary CD so tomorrow I'm going play to hear what I haven't noticed before. If these 2 things are also on that disk?? I don't think they are?
Hi, not sure about the guitar part but the "Frank Crisp" part can be heard on previous versions but really faintly, so it's always been there but they cranked it right up for this release. I seem to recall hearing it was Mal Evans saying those lines!
I played the 30th Anniversary today, and sure enough I heard Sir Frank Crisp very faintly like U said. Now I want to hear the very 1st release and see if I can hear Mal Evans on that one?? Yes I also read somewhere it was Mal doing the deep voice.
Congratulations on finally getting the ATMP vinyl set & although one of the greatest albums ever recorded i just don't like the remix of the original album so I just passed on getting any of the formats myself as for me it just sounds awful especially My Sweet Lord which sounds like George sang it down a drain!! The plethora of bonus songs should have made me buy it but I just couldn't justify the inflated cost to buy something I'd only play part of!! I hope it you enjoy this anyhow Andrew 👍
Since you have so many copies of ATMP, is it worth buying the 2014 CD-set soundwise when I have the 2001 and 2021? Put in other words, are there a noticeable difference in mastering between 2001 og 2014 ?
There's a huge mastering difference between 2001 and 2014. 2001 was very loud and in your face, 2014 is in theory more in line with the original mastering (certainly closer than 2001). If 2001 and 2021 are the only versions you know then I would say 2014 would give you a much better feeling of what the album was originally like.
How much would the price of the Uber box have to drop for you to spring for that version? I bought it at a 20% discount and thought it was worth every penny! Cheers.

I have about 10 Wonderwall Music out takes, I think I must have downloaded them from Napster about 20 years ago. But I have no idea of their origin, would love a proper release of them!

There seems to be an issue with warped records in this set, 3 of my discs are far from flat, but they seem to play OK so I didn't return the box but it is rather annoying

@@kennethmikkelsen6506 I think the quieter songs like Behind That Locked Door, If Not For You, I Dig Love etc sound great in this remix, whereas the big "wall of sound" songs probably lack a little compared to the original mix. I'm liking the remix more as time goes on. Ball Of Sir Frankie Crisp is an interesting one, it's good to hear Mal Evans backing Vocals more prominent.
The valuable thing about these opening reviews is how it helps to make a decision on whether to buy an overpriced item. The fact that it's overpriced is a given now, with Apple for sure and many other labels, so it comes down to whether the updated contents, and the original album, are so good that we will submit to being ripped off in order to access, say, the outtakes. (A "bargain compared to what it had been" is a false bargain.) Or at least consider a 2nd hand copy by and by. Whichever youtuber does an opening review, regardless, there is an unavoidable feeling of Jim Bowen showing us what we could have won, if only that last dart landed. Jim's sympathetic voice and sad glasses told one loser, "I've got to show you this, it's part of the show, you do understand, don't you." But that book is so flimsy that it looks like a joke to put it in hardback. With the usual 70-30 pictures/text ratio, it looks like something you could read in 25 minutes cover to cover, in other words a glorified magazine, and once read, never read again because the content isn't detailed or stylised enough. That's why there is hardly ever a detailed youtube review of any Apple book - - because the detail isn't there to begin with, as threadbare as a hamster's cage. I'd say the Pepper book is worth rereading, and Kevin Howlett is a good writer, but that's about it.
@@AndrewDixonMusic. That’s good news. It’s when you put them on your turntable that you notice it. There was a lot that had the odd record warped. But they played ok.
@@trevorbrown2813 Yes I put all 8 on to spin, a couple of extremely minor bumps but nothing out of the ordinary and none of them affected playback at all.
