In an interview Ringo gave he talked about the last time he saw George. He was visiting him, and said George was very sick, bedridden by this time, and was so weak he could only whisper. After awhile Ringo stated he had to leave to catch a flight to go help a family member. George looked at him and whispered..Do you want me to come with you? Ringo said he held it together until he got outside then burst into tears. He said George passed two weeks later. Even though it's sad I love that story. It shows the love between them, and George's sense of humor that never faded. Rest in Paradise sweet, beautiful spirit❤❤

Although Lennon is my favourite Beatle and I love his songs better. The likes of Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Girl, In My Life, Rain , I'm only Sleeping, She Said She Said, Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields Forever, A Day in the Life, I Am The Walrus, Revolution, Dear Prudence, Happiness Is a Warm Gun, I'm So Tired, Julia, Yer Blues, Don't Let Me Down, Come Together. I like George as a person. I also like his songs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps is one of my favourite Beatles songs. Something is so beautiful. Here Comes The Sun is so uplifting. I would say his solo album, All Things Must Pass, along with Lennon's Plastic Ono Band and Imagine albums are the greatest solo albums.

Ray Shasho: What was George Harrison like? Dave Edmunds: He was one of the most interesting people that I’ve ever met, and one of the nicest. Whenever the subject of The Beatles would come up…he always called them the fabs, like the fab four. He’d say…when I was in the fabs… and always looked at it with amusement, not with any ego at all. He looked at it like…what a weird thing that was, how the hell did that happen? The other three may have been egotistical about it and proud of being Beatles, but with George he saw it as some cosmic joke. He was just amused by the whole thing, he loved it but he kept it to himself, and you could tell when you were talking to him that there was no ego at all. Maybe acid burned it off. (All laughing)…I do miss him.

I love the fact that George Martin lived until a ripe old age and was sharp as a tack until the end. He was quite a bit older than the boys during the 60’s so the fact that he can give an interview in 2013 and look and sound like he did back then is amazing. TheDeucemonkey 23 commented that when young, Lennon was his fave Beatle but as he grew older and wiser, George's influence was more appreciated. I agree, it was George's outlook on life and his spiritual search that helped me on my own search. As the man himself said "all things must pass"....the world has been blessed by gifted souls like George, the other Beatles, Jimi, and others, their music and ultimate message being one of love. We have learnt nothing over 1000's of years except how to kill each other more efficiently. If only so called 'world leaders' and the power brokers swapped their lust of greed and power for an outlook like the aforementioned musical souls, this planet could be a paradise, not a veil of tears. George's music was deep and had spiritual meaning as well. As I've grown older his songs have found a very deep personal meaning to me. I'm so glad I kept listening to the Beatles and all their solo works since 1970. All Things Must Pass really made an impact to me when I was only 10 or 11 years old. I practically 'rediscovered' some of George's songs every few years as I grew and matured mentally and became deeper involved in just what music was and how it impacted me. And in the end, I believe that George was the most talented Beatle of all and wrote songs that have lasted the test of time and meaning. George wasn't quiet or shy; just a thinker with very deep spiritualism that had wonderful impact on him and could not be fully grasped in a pop music reality. God bless George and what he left behind for the rest of us!! Hare Georgison still lives--in his music.

George the most talented Beatle of all? Third. Wrote three great songs: Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Here Comes the Sun. McCartney and Lennon wrote over 100 as Beatles. Clearly, George was a great guitar player and an integral part of the Beatles. But only the tone deaf would suggest that he was the most talented. Third most!

Still waters run deep. George taught me that there is love and sacredness in humor, in gardening, in other cultures and spiritual teachings, and these truths are as plain as you may feel them. The limelight may shine on us or not, but the sunshine mostly always will brighten our days. By his humble but brilliant demeanor, we are all lifted up. Isn’t it a pity? We are too short upon this Earth, but by your works you may be remembered. We remember him with great respect.

@@jsterling6805 No, I kindly disagree. John and Paul are unique. They have a catalogue that George could never match. As I read it, @gordeauxd is simply saying that, to his ears (assuming he's a he), he thinks George only wrote three great songs. I think I have heard almost all of George's music and I happen to agree with him, but it's just a matter of personal taste. I know I'm in a minority, but I have given All Things Must Pass so many listens, in order to find out why people think it's so great, and I still haven't figured it out. I personally find it boring, but most people, including you, think differently, and that's absolutely fine, and well done George. For me, he just didn't produce anything I want to listen to, after Abbey Road, which I see as the height of his career. They all pushed and inspired each other to write fantastic songs, in those years, and George really did pull a few out of the hat.

In one of the many Beatles interviews from either '67 or '68, Harrison was asked whether the riches he'd gained from being a Beatle had somehow tarnished his search for a higher purpose. Harrison replied, "The money is immaterial. You can't buy enlightenment, or spiritual fulfillment with money..." and then he paused for a bit to collect his thoughts. During the pause, Lennon sardonically injected, "Can't buy me love neither." When I heard that, I was just speechless. These guys. These freakin' guys.

As well as his own songs, George's contributions to Lennon/McCartney compositions is vastly underrated. Paul acknowledges that some of the fills and hooks that George played, which were not a written part of the song, made the songs so much better. What an amazing musician, and a humble, as well as very funny man.

I learned later that he gave away quite a few song writing credits. For example, Paul McCartney did not write that opening lick to "And I Love Her".
