George was sorta put on the spot with this question. He obviously couldn't say no, but this might have been during one of those times when things weren't going so great between them. You couldn't blame George if he never completely got over the way J and P short-changed him in the band.

I wonder how todays music would sound had the Beatles never met. Considering the amount of musicians who are influenced by the Beatles or who are influenced by people who were influenced by the Beatles and so on there’s a big chance music could sound much different today without them. Try were really pioneers when it came to their music and recording techniques. It’s hard to even imagine a world without their music.

The Beatles seem like a dream, a lifetime ago. An unbelievable legacy of music and everything 60s. I’m sure glad I was here at the same time and witnessed some of it myself. I remember John appearing on all the talk shows or radio in the 70s and just rolling my eyes at his hippie talk but man, I’d love to go back and just watch them all in action again. @@jerryrikki9466 watch the Let It Be film, you will see Paul working through songs, yes, but nothing happens until John shows up. Even then Paul was not in control of George and Ringo, and those two were ready to bolt. John was there to talk George down after Paul gets on his nerves; afterwards, John helped him work out the lyrics for Something. I am not talking about artistic input, which folks would argue Paul was making more contributions in the latter years. That’s fine, i am talking leadership.
@jerryrikki9466
@jerryrikki9466 9 месяцев назад
@@kemosabe551 there's truth to that, I'd say it wouldn't matter which beatle didn't show up though, it would of stalled the group either way. At that point George was frustrated with Paul telling how to play guitar on his songs so he gravitated towards john. John was just the one who didn't show up that day while Paul was there everyday
@kemosabe551
@kemosabe551 9 месяцев назад
@@jerryrikki9466 no doubt, by the LIB sessions, the fractures were beginning to show, and John was a shell of his former self (strung out). Even still, i believe, the dynamic with John as leader was still present, and easy to imagine his status when he didn’t have the baggage. When he ceased leading the Beatles, they fell apart. Bunch of kids that were the Beatles for all of 8 years. Went from a touring group to a studio band to a broken up band in less than a decade. Really poor management for that to happen at the same time a lot of people pumped their heads full of stuff and they listened to it. The parts never equaled up to the whole and they should have known that and stayed together.

I've been really into Screamin' Jay Hawkins's cover of Monkberry Moon Delight lately- apparently he'd heard that Paul tried to sing like him on that song and decided to cover it. Hawkins destroys; IMO it's the definitive version of that song.

Who’s in the pink jumper at the start? I can’t tell! It’s funny seeing them as kids & teenagers - babies! I was born the year John Lennon was killed & initially knew their image more from the mid to late ‘60s onward, from when they were age 25 onwards - and I felt George was the most attractive. But as I’ve seen more of their earlier years, John, to me, was most attractive in the beginning. But most of all, I love their group energy, camaraderie, playfulness & humour. I wonder if, with more time & if John had lived longer, they’d have grown & healed and become close again, perhaps in the ‘90s (around age 50)… when Beatles-inspired Manchester band Oasis was kicking off?

Lennon was the leader. He started the group by auditioning Paul who then brought in George and then they got a drummer named Pete Best. They needed a drummer to be able to play in Hamburg. Pete’s mother owned the Cavern Club for which they became the house band. Then they fired Best and after the got Brian Epstein as their manager. It all worked out for the best. Even Pete Best got paid for his drumming on early Beatles songs.
