Very concise and it's put more simply. Best way to learn something initially is to get the basics as this video so eloquently points out.

'I' does the ACT and 'ME' evaluates the act. This evaluation can be done both before and after the act. So the people who are more individualistic(dominant 'I' in personality) do the act first without evaluating it and w/o evaluating how others might perceive it and they are considered to be more innovative, self centric, etc and on the other hand people who are more conscious about their words and actions(dominant 'ME' in personality) always evaluate(based on society's aspect) the act before performing the act and they are considered to be more wise. Basically 'I'- your individual personality and 'ME'- your social personality derived from the interaction you do with and within the society.

Graduated with a sociology degree at the end of last year. Been looking to learn/relearn sociological concepts. This has been one of my favorite finds after looking around for a few months. Thanks!

Why is that? I think this is one of the most broadly differentiated interdisciplinary concepts i have ever learned. It connects Psychology to Social Philosophy and Sociology and brings sense into the reason that our identity is socially dependent.

Dont you think it is the most interesting theory about how our behaviour is shaped. And why we actually do whatever we do and we barely have a call in that because our behaviour is shaped by the society.

these mcat psych/soc kahn videos are terrible..unclear and imprecise af..if you pay close attention, it is hard to find a single continuous line of thought get presented..the narrators are all over the place which makes it impossible to integrate the individual pieces to conceptualise the topic as a unified whole. i cant believe there are people who can learn more easily from this nonsense than a textbook or class lecture.

because it cuts all the details we learned in class. A simplified version helps tie together a summary.
