A typical day at work rehearsing some "new album" tracks for the upcoming tour. I will post some full songs after the album is out. Hope you like it :-)
+DirkVerbeurenDrummer As do you Dirk! Would love to you hear you do more work with Devin Townsend in the future. You guys create heavy fucking musical insanity together! \m/
Till now , I am very thankful to George Kollias .I have got to learn things , like how he plays the snare and toms and his blast beats . The only thing I would like to learn is the way he plays the bass so fast , and that by meeting him . I have full respect for him and his drumming , and will continue to .
GRAZIE
+Diego Lafuente I'm sure you think you can play it easily, but playing it correctly and as precise as George does is another thing entirely. This song is no walk in the park man...
I went to a drum camp this summer and took a class with Mike Mangini, and he told the class about how he went to George's place and tried playing his pedals, and he noticed that no matter how hard he tried to play them, he always got a tiny, soft hit for how close they were to the head and how tight they were and Mike was all, "GEORGE!!! GET OVER HERE! LET ME SEE YOUR FEET!!!"😨😨😨
I like hearing the tone and mix evolve through different Nile albums. I loved the snare tone on Detest, Ithyiphallic and Annihilation. I REALLY loved the toms on Detest. Sethu had a great raw sound that you don't hear much nowadays in metal. In general though I do prefer the higher-tuned snare.
George, you've been my inspiration since ive started to play the drums. This album was fuckin killer, the whole band really put forth some amazing songs. Who gives a shit what others say, you do what you do and kick ass doing it \m/
holy hell that was awesome o.O i need nile. in finland. right now. or ok, well not right now, in a week or so, so that i have enough time to get a ticket :D this video is a great example of george being as amazing as always
i would literaly pay money if george started doing Drum Covers of songs like Fleshgod apocalypse-The violation, Infant anhilator-decapitation Fornication, ingested-Skinned and fucked,Morbid Angel-opening of the gates,Messhugah-Bleed & Dream theater-Dance of eternity what do you guys think?
I wonder who was the bastard who did not like the video! George Kollias is the master of monsters on the subject and think impossible someone not like the techniques that he presents.
HabAnagarek Unfortunately the snare in the album isn't much different (at least in the songs they released), the blast beats sound drowned and muffled which is a real shame...
+adamagedone I tune my snare lower than i did in the past cause it sounds great on recordings, i prefer it like that much more although it makes your life harder to play fast on the kit. It's not muffled at all, there is a single piece of moon-gel there and thats all, so i would say it's pretty open, just tuned lower.
George! Big inspiration! I wanted to ask you what Iron Cobra beaters did you use before? Wood or Felt? Never stop playing because you are definitely the best at what you do!! :)
Hey man I'd really appreciate it if you could answer this question for me? At the minute I'm using chain pedals, in this video it looks like you're using direct drive. I've heard great things about direct drive and debating on getting them myself, so what are the benefits from using direct drives?
Hey George what is that technique you are doing for the blast beat? Dave Haley said it was Moeller but looks like push-pull. Sorry if this has already been asked, thanks.
