Best 3 hours you could spend listening to classics like this and talking to girls with high hair while I cruised in my Maroon Buick Riviera with the rag top and spoke rimmed wheels! The greatest thing about freestyle besides that it was and is dance-able is that it had lyrics that made sense and we were able to relate to the words. Today... it's all about a good hook! Freestyle was super strong when I was in HS. I still play it at home and in the car, so my kids know it and appreciate it! It will remain alive within me as long as I live!

The funny thing is I was in San Jose, CA at the same time and we had the same Freestyle culture, just some different artists. I think San Jose and Miami were the Freestyle capitals of the 80s, even tho the Bronx had Lisa Lisa and a few others.

80's were my teen years .. I will always love Freestyle and 80's music in general, as my mom still listens to her 70's .. music brings back so many emotions and random memories pop up with each song. It is very special.
It's only now that I listen to all these great freestyle classics, some 27 years later, that I realize they were mostly about falling in love and losing someone special and crying out for forgiveness or apology. Freestyle baby!

Yeah Italian, Jewish, Black all were fans of the music especially Italians. Obviously as a latino, I feel proud we had a inner city music that was unique. Started in NYC and had that NYC vibe, but it grew to Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston etc..
Freestyle is part of my life! Been listening to it since i was a teen in the 80's! Music has come and gone but freestyle lives on and never gets old! I still listen to it in my car full blast and I never get tired of it! Great memories from my high school days!
Definitely culture has changed, the respect for the public in the lyrics, dressing, talent in this singer compared to the garbage that I won't allow my kids to listen during this times
MTV never gave Freestyle a chance, it played a few mainstream videos from the Cover Girls, Expose, etc... but in the 80s and early 90s they played Rock music almost exclusively. Then in the mid 90s MTV started giving Hip Hop a platform, I remember they had a late night show called something like YO MTV Rap or something like that, then by the late 90s Hip Hop was replacing Rock. MTV never supported Freestyle.

Man my parents got me into this type of music and I have to say that I love it to bits. And this is coming from a hardcore and die hard metalhead. Man I wish I was born in the late 70's. But I am proud to be born and represent the last great decade of the 90's.

I wish I got to hear this banger when Lamond dropped it. I don't think I got to hear it until I heard it on a freestyle-focused internet radio station in 2014. Nonetheless, I know firsthand why so many freestyle fans love this track.
i think its sad how mainstream record companies stoled the freestyle sound from these talented artists , then they tried to repackage it in regular "pop" acts while doing away with the true latin freestyle artists themselves. word of advice to record labels, this music is a gift , and with or without a record deal, these artists deserve much more than the industry has givin them. talent is talent with or without a record deal or contract to a label
