They didn't lose his ideas, they didn't want them. Disney/Lucasfilm have their own agenda to push and Star Wars is just one of many vehicles they are using to do just that.

So 4 people edited the film, but George decided to not give himself credit probably since he didn’t think people wanted to see his name everywhere in the credits.

Funny he said that when his support was what probably clinched the boardroom battle for Iger. At a time people were calling for Iger's head given all that's happened to Disney's moneymakers - including Star Wars and Bob's seeming unconditional support for how KK's running the show at Lucasfilm - George came out and said Bob's the best guy to run Disney. I get it he owes Iger. I get it he's looking after his shareholder value and BlackRock backing Bob gives it the best bang-for-buck over profits fans give the various IPs, somehow. But George DID support the man who, in a large measure, is responsible for the continuing deterioration of Star Wars. George without an editor made the sand dialogue. Clearly he's a genius even on his own. But jokes aside, some of the prequels' dialogue is clunky, but they've at least got soul and the right amount of comedy(intentional or not)
@blindtreeman8052 the dialogue is cheesy, the acting stiff due to no physical environment. But... the plot, theme, story arc, lore, history, etc... all of it is perfect. New sequels: horrible story and plot with great visuals... prequels: amazing story and over use of early cgi. I'd rather put the prequels on and watch those. I grew up in the 80s and prefer the OG trilogy, the new jj abrams/kennedy/Johnson trilogy is awful. Rian has done good work, but he tore the rear end open of Star Wars, and that is exactly what Kathleen kennedy wanted. He did what she wanted. I don't even blame Rian at this point, and I enjoy his other work (great themes and acting in his other work)... but they purposely pooped on star wars because Luke has a 🍆

I respect canon. But I don’t actually care about it either, if that makes sense. I want good, compelling story telling. Canon, or a “what if” concept - if the story/characters are compelling that’s what matters the most. I also don’t believe anything happening right now can be tied to Filoni. The guy who did clone wars and rebels obviously understands story telling and character development. He didn’t suddenly forget those things moving into live action. More to the story, I suspect!

Personally, I no longer have hope for any decent, modern re-telling of stories from our various beloved Fandoms. When they came for Tolkien that was the LAST straw for me and I tapped out. I’m enjoying Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE movies but they can’t possibly fill the hole in my heart over what Hollywood has done to ruin so many previously magnificent Fantasy & Sci-Fi universes/legendariums/canons. Her actions make it very clear that Kennedy has had it out for Lucas and Spielberg for a very long time. She creates nothing of substance, she can only twist and ruin. George is a marvelous world builder, but I don't think he ever really understood people.
I think it’s less that the current people working on Star Wars don’t understand it. It’s more that they think it’s simplistic and needs to be complicated by different interpretations. I think KK has less of maliciousness and more an agenda and feeling that she was in the passenger seat and now gets to drive and wants to do it her way.
Someone, I won’t say who, just put out a remastered version of the original, pre updated, trilogy online. Watching them again made me feel like a kid again. I loved Andor and Rogue One (despite some flaws with the latter) and everything else Disney has done with this IP feels unrecognizable at best and spitefully sabotaged at worst

Ever since I saw Star Wars in 1977, I equated the force with "The Tao" or "The Way" in Taoism. Nobody truly understands it but you gain knowledge of self by seeking it. Disney permanently broke Star Wars and I've checked out of that universe.

I did not watch Kenobi and after learning of the original script that was not put into work I am a bit more angry at all the missed opportunities that are part of the Disney Star Wars experience. Mandalorian S1&S2, Rogue One, TCW last 4 episodes and Andor are so far the only good products while the rest breaks immersion, is a cheap copy or downright insulting to the legacy of great Star Wars characters.
Palpitine returned, Anakin did nothing and Luke ended up a failure. Anakin wasn't special, anyone can create life from nothing. Disney rendered watching the entire franchise literally pointless.
I recognize what is happening at Disney as something typical for inexperienced writers with a massive Dunning-Kruger issue. They are absolutely convinced they are superior artists, hence critique is waved away as some sort of malicious agenda. It is so easy to try to hide your failings to yourself by scapegoating and use superficial deflections than face the critique. I’m personally more tied to another fanbase (TransFormers) and more a fan of the cartoon (more science sci-fi) than comics (the biggest comic writer for Marvel TF, Simon Furman, draws way too much inspiration from religious texts like the catholic apocalypse themes imo). But at least he knows how to write characters consistently. RiBFiR etc. So anyway, I used to run fanforums as a moderator and we had fanart and fanfic sections, some of which was “world building” stories, where people could write fics that tied into one another (with permission). Given my preference for the cartoon, I preferred reading TransFormers fanfics claiming to use cartoon canon. Regardless of male or female writers, where underused and more likely own characters were fleshed out more, but where established and popular characters like Optimus Prime, Shockwave and Megatron have pre-set characters and motives. There would be interaction with these characters, but they would adhere to their behaviour from specific canon media. However, some of these fanfic writers had similar issues to the current Disney writers (both for fanboys and “fangrrls” alike. Typically fangrrls had more romance centered stories and boys a high Rambo level). So often own characters that were male or female Mary Sue types that could beat Megatron without breaking a sweat, or worse “transforming bad guys like Starscream to good guys by the power of love”. And actively do romances in general despite them being robots (gender is questionable). But that could get very bad: let’s not get into specifics, but some people rewrote characters (sometimes without warning involving their NSFW phantasies about their or established characters… Aside from it being a children’s franchise and unsolicited, it was always written with a complete disregard for canon and when critiqued for not following canon, forum posting rules on NSFW content or simply bad or lazy writing as these forums were meant for constructive critique, these (often teen fan writers), would get extremely defensive and quickly throw petty insults and general prejudice at anyone critiquing them, claiming all constructive critique was just bashing or personal. They only wanted to hear praise and likeminded sounds simply due to being immature and inexperienced writers. The Acolyte seems like that exaggerated romance kind of “fangrrl” fic that aims to rewrite main characters to their own pet peeve phantasies with utter disregard for established canon, timelines and lore and immaturely can’t handle any critique, because they’ve always written their stuff in their own save space and never learned to appreciate critique or write for a wider audience than themselves.

Now, George Lucas had some pretty definitive ideas about Star Wars. Now, the Star Wars books did diverge from George Lucas' vision. But, they were books, not films. I remember a You Tube clip of an assistant mistakenly mention Mara Jade was his creation. The assistant wasn't an assistant very long after that. Now, that is not to say material from the book EU wouldn't have been used. But, the original films were there to guide. The Star Wars books from the EU would easily provided material for films and series to be made! But no, a POLITICALLY WOKE AGENDA OF INDOCTRINATION forced on young children! Disney is not responsible for how children are brought up. Parents of these children are in charge, responsible for the upbringing of those children! Lucas lost his original fans by not acknowledging his original analog trilogy as being as historically important . The original trilogy is proof of real pioneering special effects with each chapter .

Not only does KK want to destroy all that came before in terms of physical media she wants to destroy the lore by making content that comes before in the timeline to make the classic stories less impactful. Always watch in order of release! Not only does Lucasfilm have to stop tinkering with timelines, but all media it’s such lazy uninspiring and non-creative. You are not making anything if it means destroying and replacing!
i think her and many others at LF are insecure and know they dont have the talent of the group that came before them at LF. So they deconstruct, break down, and try to lower what pre disney LF accomplished so they can feel better about themselves and THEIR stories as opposed to actual Star Wars stories.
Disney has been about as complete a disaster as could be imagined. But, Lucas doesn't get a pass. Many of his ideas were whole different brand of crap. He hadn't made a good Star Wars anything since Return of the Jedi.

just watched all 6 original movies this weekend. the order of them makes some things feel a bit out of place (like you'd think bobba fett would be a bit more of an up front character in episode 4-6 after what happens in 1-3), but for the time they were made in, it's a pretty well crafted story overall.
Decades of bad culture produce bad movies. The OT was made in 70ies and 80ies, this is one of the many reasions why it was legendary. The other reasions with beeing George writing the story and hundreds of great artists supporting him.
Dave Filoni is highly overrated, and always has been. He has risen on the coattails of Lucas and Favreau. When left to his own writing it's juvenile and inconsistent. His background is cartoons and it shows.
They hate George Lucas because he was never a part of the Hollywood industry, he left LA as soon as could, he set up his company in Marin and SF, he launched ILM, he supported Pixar Studios in the early years, he launched Skywalker Ranch which has a mixing facility, he pointed the way for the independent film industry. He was a threat, and now Disney has control they can punish him.
They didn't get rid of him, he sold it and bailed. Lucas was always driven by money. He took the biggest, best deal, with the most immediate payout and least continued involvement. He could have restructured Lucasfilm to an employee-owned company and kept it out of Hollywood. That clearly wasn't of great importance to him. He just wanted Hollywood out of his pockets until he was ready to use Holkywood to fill his pockets.
Lucas was always motivated by money. SW sat stagnant for years until George could get another sweet toy deal. He didn't lift a finger to develope his ideas in the (substantial) meantime. Once he got the toy deal, then he rushed to slap together the prequel scripts, and it showed. Seems his ideas were always secondary to how much he can sell his ideas.
Lucas gave all of the $4.05 billion dollars he received for Star Wars to an education charity. He didn't keep a cent from Star Wars because thought it was a ridiculous amount of money for any single person to have.
