Paid £40 aweek gave 10 to mum and the rest bought a motorbike, records, Levi's and down the pub every nite All while dating and dancing to this...crazy eh Now a pensioner 😂
My childhood brought me here. I remember hearing this song as a child, and it took me all these years to find it 05/06/24. I love it the same as I did then ❤
recently heard this song for the first time and it's so beautiful. it was in my playlist, i added a few weeks back but have no memory of ever hearing it or adding it so it came on during a 2 am cleaning spelll triggered by the sudden urge to want to fix my life and be better after being in a dark dark depression hole for too long so this came on and i ended up just listening to it on loop for a while. it's just so good and eventually i was like ...yea i could have it all. just everything about this song is amazing
I've always thought this song was an original song from Yo la Tengo. Yesterday while watching the last episode of Love Life S2, I've found out that it wasn't and is a very cool discovery. I love both versions.
Old Navy brought Me here. But also My Parents too! They actually have this Old Record on Their Collection.I grew up as a Baby and Toddler Dancing to this in My High Chair as My Folks told Me lol.😂
I'd forgotten about this song. His other hits I remember, such as 'Rock Your Baby' and 'I Can't Leave You Alone'... Brilliant how he could hit those high notes. The 1970s is my favourite decade for music, and my teen years from '73 to '79. Lots of great music.
Yo La Tengo did a superb cover of this song. Although I prefer YLT's take, George McRae's original version is a great song and it's easy to see why Hoboken's finest were inspired to play it.
This song is too short for its own good; if I was at the production helm I would extend this smooth 'n' groovy track to the six-minute mark, because I wish it would go on forever. And McCrae's wailing falsetto towards the end kills me with every listen.
@BIZGIZ Yes, it was for radio airplay that songs were mainly 3 minutes long. Mind you, when 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen came along in 1975, they had to play the whole thing :-)
Why no one has extended this I’ll never know . It doesn’t have to be 6 minutes long but just repeat the two verses and the extend the ending …. perfect
Heard Yo La Tengo's version first, and I love what they did with it. I'm not much of a disco fan, but McCrae's voice is magical (and "Rock Your Baby" is one disco track I'd play again). Glad I discovered this.
The Bollocks, fifty years on nearly, and I'm old enough to remember its release. To all those fellas or Ladies who have ever been had over a barrel, this is better than any therapist!
I hope George is getting paid for ON using his music. I still don’t understand why commercial ppl think because they use disco or rock music it’s gonna make me buy their product.🥴🤔
so this is pop or disco?? caus' someone insulted my playlist saying George is pop and I got a bit mad :) I feel very disco so what's the diffrence in the end...
Look at the date 1974 right before disco broke i would say it is pop but it certainly the song got disco arrangements on it and a Kind of disco feel, it seems you hate disco, i would suggest you to listen to yo la tengos cover of this song
