George Montgomery discusses his life and career as an actor, plus his later years as a custom furniture maker, as well as his long marriage to Dinah Shore, in this rare half-hour interview with cable TV host Skip E Lowe.
I found the interviewer to be disrespectful to the great George Montgomery ^ by asking George a few times ' can you remember that ' treating George like he had NO memory, George handled the interview with greatness sharpness & patience.. and one hell of a handsome man all through his life.
The interviewer is fishing for juicy stories. Mr Montgomery very dignified and respectful of his profession and fellow actors and associates. A very talented actor and multi talented away from it.
Thank you Sir, for serving our country during WWll, and thank you for playing in and starring in S O many great westerns through the years. R. I. P. GEORGE 🇺🇲 MONTGOMERY
George Montgomery is one of my favorite western stars. I can't believe how someone like Skip Lowe got all these major stars on his show. Custard's Last Stand lol Man! Lowe is all over the board and Montgomery seems like a simple man. I'm surprised he didn't walk off.
Dave La Violette Skip E Lowe must have something. He created this, his show, and got a marvelous array of stars so they must have seen something in him. Maybe they liked him.
I had the privilege to meet Mr. Montgomery several times. I'm a western sculptor.. and did shows in San Dimas California and Great Falls Montana... where he''d attend the shows.. Such a nice gentleman.. He never acted like he was better than everyone.. He always was very approachable.. This interviewer is the worst I've ever seen though..
I admire Mr. Lowe for somehow getting these great old stars, but really, he makes me wish I or somebody else could have conducted the interview. Ending almost every sentence with "come on!" strikes a nerve ending after hearing it the first time!
It’s so disrespectful but unintentionally hilarious too! You have to laugh 🤣 Sometimes it really is frustrating because the guest is really about to spill some tea, and then here comes skip- TELL ME ABOUT XYZ… 🤦♂️🤣
Priceless Footage. Beloved Star. I never knew the vast creative talents he had. Regean hadn't a clue, ... his VP was the undesirable. I shall bite my tongue.
Addendum: how many times does Mr. Montgomery have to tell this schlemiel that he doesn't have good recollections of the people he worked with because at the time, it was just his job. He also may have been trying to do the right thing by not telling tales about these people out of respect.
Skip was a quite a character . I saw him many times walking about West Hollywood when I lived there from 1992-2010. He also showed up in local bars to drink. I notice Skip called George Montgomery “ Russian” , and since he was Ukrainian, George was evasive, saying “ Montanan”.
GEORGE MONTGOMERY LOVELY ACTOR ⚘⚘⚘ CHECK OUT HIS BRILLIANT WESTERN MOVIES 🎥🎥🎥 HE RETIRED FROM MOVIES IN HIS LATE FIFTIES HE BECAME A GREAT SCULPTOR N CARPENTER
@@dtaylor939 My memory is a little sketchy, but the name Florenda Balken comes to mind. That was after he and Dinah divorced. After that I lost track of him. George wasn't a superstar, in the manner of Gable and Cooper. He was a good working actor though, mostly westerns.
Poor George, having to jump from one story to another. His sister Rose 🌹 is my Mom’s Mother. I never met her and from what my mom spoke about is to sad to share. It’s history now but a very tragic one indeed. This is a Great Uncle and my mom ended up in Harden on a reservation until she was adopted by and farmer & school teacher. Why the dirty laundry? All those folks are dead. Mom’s still around. Must be that Russian blood.
Yanno, thinking this over, in all fairness, George was, realistically, not exactly the most talkative guest one could have. I'm thinking of Paul Newman, a great actor, but during interviews, a man of few words. It just happens sometimes.
I was watching an interview with Lucille Ball, and I went down this rabbit hole and I ended up here. I thought the interviewer was Leslie Jordan! I could’ve sworn that was him! Anyone else think that?
Interesting at the end he said him and Dinah were having Christmas diner. Dinah Shore was actually jewish. I wonder if she is related to Paulo Shore. I wonder what became of their children. Their son was adopted.. it says in his Wikipedia that his daughter was there when he died but makes no mention of his son.
The sad thing is these two guys had lived together in the 70’s. Skip is pretending he doesn’t know the answer to the questions. They liked to put on makeup and sing show tunes at their parties.
Dear George, I'm not that familiar with your work, except for an episode of Password in which you and Sally Ann Howes were arguably the worst password players ever. But that aside, THANK YOU for standing up for Ronald Reagan against this twit. It seems that Mr. Lowe maybe the foundation for the scum we have in Hollywood today. Once again, George, Thank you and God bless. Signed, a new fan. PS: I love your bronze work and will find a movie of yours to watch.
Your tolerance is astounding...LOL.. Regardless Montgomery was a pretty good actor. I remember his TV Series Cimarron City as a 5 year old and loved horses at the time and the opening credits were of him riding a horse. Great nostalgia for me as a senior now.
I think we should excuse Skip for his enthusiastic and intense excitement in his interviews, yes he does interrupt a little too much but lets be fair i think we all would, wouldn't we !!!!
Obviously this interview was done before 2000. I would say about 1991. George was about 75. The interview jumps around too much in my opinion. George seems like a very nice and humble man. Am still not sure why he and Dinah broke up. How could anyone not be able or willing to get along with Dinah Shore?
george montgomery had magic. and as sex-driven as stars ever are. couldn't stay faithful to Dinah Shore and told her so . what followed for him was self-indulgent, dangerous, sordid. but nobody cast him well, in something darker, more Hitchcock and it was really too bad. he ended up looking like this. hard to watch, really.
and how in heck would you know about his sex life & what he told his wife about, etc. just love it when ppl like to act like they have special "knowledge".... lol. p.s. you must be quite young or you'd know that almost all of us get to looking quite bad if we live to be as old as he is here! lol. that's old age for ya.
Leave their private life alone. We all have weaknesses and imperfections. Society as a whole is very adulterous and immoral. And you know, I just don’t believe all the “juicy” gossip about celebrities.
Did that jerk announcer actually say something like"...extremely popular George Montgomery..."? The only thing he did that was even remotely "popular" was the 20-odd years he was married to Dinah Shore !!
I was an aquiantamce of GM and in his home and a few coversations with him..All around nice guy and good actor and artist. Not a limelight seeker kind of guy but was popular and remaines so by those who knew him. The Interviewer was the one to be crital about! Rob Leeb
Why did George Montgomery and Dinah Shore get divorced? I just saw an old “This is Your Life” from 1953 and they seemed very much in love with their little 5 year old daughter Melissa. I wonder what happened? How could anyone not get along with Dinah Shore?
how about just speaking for yourself? you may not like his movies but many, many others do! yes, he was an "...extremely popular..." actor. we still watch his movies today. you don't have to like him for him to be popular with others.....!!!!!
