He was so funny....I remember seeing him as a kid on TV....always a riot...so sorry to hear of his passing this year.....he made tons of us laugh over the years....
I love this interview with Rip Taylor, too bad there isn't more of them here on RU-vid or anywhere else maybe for that matter? It sounds as though he had a wonderful career and so many interesting life Experiences. Rest in peace , Rip Taylor, there well never be another you. Thank you for The laughs and joy you gave to me and so many millions of people. Rest easy, never forgotten.❤
The power of a good interview. Thank heavens for clips like this. Of course have been familiar with Rip Taylor for decades but always when he was on a show peforming, so never really paid all the much attention to him. Because of this interview you get to see THE PERSON not just the act and now he really intrigues me..Great stories. Hope he writes his memoirs. - Montreal, Canada
Just got done watching a great interview, some humor some seriousness. Real life interview. Thank you for sharing. Thanks to Mr. Taylor for all the laughs.
Martin Short just did mimicry of Brian Linehan City Lights (Toronto City TV) and Skip E. Lowe. His head was filled with so much American popular TV from the 50s and 60s that he just regurgitates into his characters.
Rip Taylor - when I first saw him I was probably in my teens, and I'm 62 (he was a regular on the Phyllis Diller Show in 1962 - and I thought he was the funniest, quickest comedian on TV. You had to pay attention, because he talked so fast you're almost laughing a joke behind.
Not knowing their mothers? I guess being an ethnic Catholic and very family oriented we didn’t have this type of distance. His mother put him in foster homes, my question is where was the rest of his relatives?
I love the host--he's a wonderful interviewer--why didn't I hear about him before? his offbeat style perfectly compliments Rip's off the wall, crazy humor!
After listening to the story that Rip told about how Jackie Gleason treated him / fired him, I have lost TOTAL respect for Jackie Gleason. That was a very mean thing to do to Rip. Rip Taylor is one cool guy. I could NEVER watch anything that Jackie Gleason did ever again.
I think Steve Martin must have been influenced by Rip ... two guys who could actually make me laugh instead of shake my head and grimace. Rip was flat out the best ... a hurricane comic. Made you ... forced you ... to forget all the negative stuff going on in the world.
Thank you, I enjoyed watching them chat. Rip is so charming. This clip is not the regular Rip Ciip that you would expect and if you pay attention, you will learn how to be a better performer. But remember we can never be Rip. Thank You Rip Taylor.
I love this generation of “elder gays.” When I was a kid, it was people of this group that made up the elder statesman… and what role models they were! Classy, campy, funny, quick witted, with a gift for gab. What’s not to like?
Who remembers the $1.98 Beauty Contest? So funny. The winning contestant would get a bunch of carrots with the greens atop (in lieu of a flower bouquet). And of course, confetti. I'm going to check RU-vid for episodes that aired late 70's, I believe.
Rip was great and seems to be a genuine, honest beautiful soul !! Skip E. is a pain in the ass most of the time !! Shut up and let the guest talk !! Marty Short took at least 50% of this guys shtick !!
Gary Williams actually he was probably one of the best. If you watch more of his interviews you will see that he has the ability to bring out anything from people. He's likable, he's personal, he's engaged. And gets the utmost respect from his interviewee's. He's right up there with Charlie rose. Check out his interview with Timothy leary.
@@aquarius4884 poor dear you must have led a sheltered life, open your eyes, it's very evident, though not evil nor perverse oh, I see it as two people having a conversation. That's the way everybody in this freaking world should see it; Two individuals having a conversation not an old woman not two gay men not anything with labels. Two individual people having a conversation. I hope you understand that now that I've told you. Do I have to repeat myself, or do you get it now? "Haters will hate" is the saying nowadays. Obviously you are one of them.
