@@carastone3473 I wouldn't even know where to begin with how different it is. Not to mention all of the characters that were cut from the show entirely
Catelyn is an amizingly written character, so polarizing aparently but it suprises me how real she feels and how strong those feelings and inner mologue is.
"Genius strategy" thinking of women like people too? No way, I would never think about this, can you imagine seeing women as people with personalities, thoughts, opinions and life of their own...
You say this but realize in these male dominated spheres and a lot of the people that don't have the exposure with or empathy for women to really understand them in an intimate context such as character writing. Treating women like actual people isn't actually meant to be a revolutionary statement, however depicting an experience vastly different to your own is difficult, let alone one further skewed by the patriarchy of his setting and his life as a man makes this even more difficult. But GRRM doesn't disappoint. It's just something to always keep in mind, do your research. He respectful and accurate, and channel your empathy if you have it.
@@cynicaltheastrocreep4504 perceiving another human being as a human being isn't a medal worthy kind of achievement, it's basic human dysency. As much as seeing people of different races, nationalities etc is. What are you talking about? "No exposure or empathy for women to understand them in intimate context". As if we don't live in the world were 51% of population is women. As if you are not surrounded by women. As if you don't communicate with women on the daily basis. As if a woman has not literally birth you and (statistically most likely) rased you. I don't know what kind of sociopath a child must grow up to to not have an understanding that women are people. I don't know under what rock someone must to have lived 20, 30, 40 + years of their life, having mother, grandmothers, sisters, studying with women in the same class, going to work with women, walking past women on the streets, going with women on dates (if you're into that kind of things) and eventually being married to a woman, maybe even having a daughter yourself, yet still needing reminder that having v@gina doesn't strip one off of their intelligence or personality or depth or humanity. "Oh, but I was rased to believe women are beneath men", "oh, but I grew up in era when women were considered second class citizen" oh, but my religion tells me..." This is the reason why you have brain sitting in that head of yours. Use it. If women are capable of writing complex and interesting men character without needing to be told "don't forget, men are people too", men can do it. Rhaena Targaryen (Jaehaerys/Alyssane's sister) is personally my fav character GRRM female character. Easily the most complex and unique tier-1 character
