This brings back some memories.... I was at the 50th Annual Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show (at the Astrodome - 1981???) and Eddie Rabbit was scheduled as one of the entertainers - for some reason he had to cancel. So, they had this little known, up and coming singer who had just released a song called "Amarillo By Morning" take his place.....and the rest is country music history. Love this guy.

This is one of my favorite five of George's songs. HUGE thank you for the post! I saw George at the Ky. State Fair in the 90"s on his Pure Country Tour. It was unbelievable. I have seen many country music singers in concert. The man has no equal.

I got to see George Strait live before The Cowboy Rides Away Tour and I heard this song when I saw him at the scottrade center in St Louis in 2012 and I had a great time and I did a tribute to George Strait and I did the song at the end of his concerts and the name of his final tour and it was called The Cowboy Rides Away and I didn’t miss up and I felt the same way when I saw George Strait do it in 2012, when he closed the old astrodome in Houston Texas and when he did it at his final concert during The Cowboy Rides Away Tour

How can George Strait be crowned King of Country when he did not even write ALL HIS SONGS. And the few that he wrote were not even hits compared to those which were written for him. GS has relied on the cream of the tunesmith crop throughout the years, including stalwart Whitey Shafer and fellow Country Music Hall of Fame member Dean Dillon. BUT, it's undeniable that he has a great voice ❤ He allegedly used autotune one way or another over the years though.

They're like Commander Cody & the Lost Planet Airmen. They should cover THAT ONE Commander Cody tune.
