This 1985 classic blazed through the Astrodome, just like its hot fiddle. George and Gene (Elders) know how to rock a honkytonk and arena.
This one was written by Mack Vickery and Wayne Kemp. It was released as a single in 1985 from his "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" album of the previous year.

Not only is the music great, and the musicians talented, but listen to his voice. It's just a voice. He's not screaming, going falsetto, nothing....just him talking at a loud level. Pry the best pure country voice of all time.

Don't forget he has been making hit songs for his whole career not hemmed in by a bygone era that his sound belongs to like so many pop-country-contemporary Artists he is a timeless legend who refuses to be put in a box. Nor allow. Popular trends in to dictate how or when he gets his sound Many decades of great writing that really still holds water. Today and showing no sign of. Letting up any time soon

George is so.versatile. He can sing upbeat like this one and lower it down whenever he feels like it. Hence why he's THE best country singer of all time and it aint even close.

It's closer than you might think. Around 1990 there was a great country singer named Wyatt 'Dusty' Chandler. He burst onto the country music scene with his debut album, Pure Country, it was a huge success. Anyways, he was right there with George on talent, he just wasn't around long. ;-) But for real I agree with you 100%. Four decades in the industry, a consummate professional, never had any scandals or arrests or rehab. Just keeps on churning out great country music.
