Mike was a great guy .One of my oldest friends was friends with Mike .Mike once thought about retiring and Joey my friend was up for the Job .Joey was a great drummer he his own right but he stand with George.I never met Mike but always heard he was great guy .Many who knew said as much .I met alot of people in the industry back in the day and really never met anyone I didn't like .For me to say that is a statement I can't say about many people who I have in my life.RIP Brother Mike .
King George . That man is full of class. It just doesn't get any better than George Strait. He simply exudes kindness, honor, loyalty, humility, and class. I guarantee, without a doubt, I will feel heartache when he passes from this life. I was just now about to type that I can think of no one who could successfully step in and take his place when he's gone. I do have to admit that in my strong opinion, Alan Jackson is 2nd place right behind King George when it comes to showing a classy attitude and demeanor when on stage and I will always very much enjoy Alan when he's performing. But, absolutely no one does it as greatly as George Strait. The direction that Country music has turned is absolutely sickening. I mean that with every bone in my body and every square inch of my heart. I'm still fairly young. I'm 37. Born in '81. I sat in the backseat of my parents car when I was 4, 5, 6, and up and sang along with George on the radio -"Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind", "Amarillo By Mornin", "Ocean Front Property In Arizona", All My Exes Live In Texas", and others. The majority of so-called "Country music" nowadays is garbage and is absolutely deplorable by comparison. George Strait is a man of great character. I agree. This so-called bullshit they call country music now is absolutely pathetic. In some ways it might be ok party music, but not country music. George Strait, Alan Jackson, Alabama, Garth Brooks, Reba Mcentire, Pam Tillis, Vince Gill, Clint Black, etc. Now that's country music. I am about your age and loved country music in the 80s and 90s. I went to Europe with the military in 98 and didn't come back till 2006 and couldn't stand what was on the radio and it has gotten much worse. Oh well I still have my records and cds to listen to with my kids.
I did this song when I got inducted in drama club and I did it as a tribute to George Strait and I didn’t miss it up and I felt the same way when I saw George Strait live in 2012 at the scottrade center, closed the old astrodome in Houston and when he finished his final tour and final show during The Cowboy Rides Away Tour
