I met this woman who was so damaged from a past relationship that no matter I tried to prove to her, spoil her, love her..she couldn't move on from her past. All of her gf keep telling her to give me a chance but nothing I did mattered. 10 months of this and she was gone. A year later, she married another guy who ended up beating her, alcoholic and she had a child. I guess she was attracted to that type of guy. God did me a favor and pointed me in a different direction where I found my perfect match now going on 8 years solid. Garth Brook's song "Unanswered Prayers" is also one of my favorites but George's song here is one of my top 5 favorites. God Bless

I’ve been on both sides of this song. Really hits home

Ever since I've lost her, I've never been able to love again. It broke me in a way I have spent the last decade trying to understand and express in words. I have literally written hundreds and hundreds of pages of poetry and prose trying to explain it to myself and others, and I still can't capture it in words in a way that I am satisfied with. I don't know if I'll ever love again... And I'm not even that old. I don't know what the hell is wrong with me... I think it broke something so deep inside of me that I will never be whole ever again. Women can see it in my eyes now, the pain, the brokenness, and they always get away from it as soon as they can. My darkness is like a disease and it keeps trying to spread itself to everyone else around me. I forgot how to love myself so many years ago that I don't even remember what it feels like. I have tried so hard to for so long, tried self-help, tried therapy, tried God and Jesus, tried liquor and drugs, and no one and nothing can save me from it, no one can make the darkness go away. I'm beginning to think it has always been there since I was young and just consumes me more and more every single day until one day I will be nothing but the darkness and not one single person in my life will still be there because it will have driven them all off. There are only 5 people in my life between all my family and friends that are still there for me, and I don't know how much longer they will be. I'd say pray for me but that has never helped me either. I don't think anything ever will...
