7:44 so GSP at 16 or 17 years old, a teenager, based out of Montreal at the time, was trying to get a crew to go train elite BJJ in New York. They agree but then bail out. He knew next to know English and would now have to cover the full financial costs, but he went anyway. Foreign country, foreign language, foreign culture to go train a foreign martial art with older strangers. He goes all the way there and gets his ass kicked.... From this moment on, GSP somehow developed into the best MMA wrestler/grappler of his generation. He went on to dominate former collegiate D-1 wrestlers and BJJ black belts who trained grappling from childhood. Georges has an incredible drive, fight IQ and charisma. I have so much respect for this guy.
These are the what it takes stories I love it. It’s not fancy it’s greasy but he did it and guess what. He learned whatever traits along with fighting that carried that man into the stratosphere
One of the many reasons GSP is my GOAT. Yeah Jon is the "most dominant" or whatever, but GSP and even DJ should be ahead of him on the all time lists bc they weren't dirty fighters or cheaters!! They did things the right way and deserve nothing but the utmost respect ✌️
While this is completely badass, going from Montreal to New York by yourself isn't that crazy. You learn an ok amount of English in Montreal and it's only like a 7 hour drive. They both have a similar enough city culture. I think going from Mexico to the US would be a much bigger culture shock.
Unbelievable humility. Immediately says he was lucky and knows people that were better than him. He could easily go around saying “I’m one of the greatest ever”. So much respect for this man and so proud he is from Quebec ⚜️
I think his humidity , how great of a fighter, and how nice he is makes it really easy to like George.hes one of those types of people that if someone says they don’t like him , then there is probably something wrong with themself.
George helped me get sober from drugs and alcohol. Get on medication for my OCD, and start my own RU-vid channel on addiction. Thank you George and Theo
Dude I'm in your boat. It's not just women but all the city cucks NPCs that are literally cringe. Imma just roll up on them with justified arrogance to both the men and women, trying to suss out the red pills
Low key best comment is when they’re talking about resurrecting wooly mammoths and GSP says “I think they’re gonna use Asian elephants”, Theo’s response “and just do a wig or whatever?” Hahahaha
It’s crazy how Theos got the ability to make his guests feel so comfortable right off the rip. People open up to Theo like they’re talking to a buddy they knew for ages. Not many podcasters, journalists , hosts etc have this ability it’s a genuine personality thing that some people are just born with.
@@elieeisenberg4556 French Canadian and Québécois is the same thing. Stop trying to start childish arguments, you had your chance 2 times and it failed.
@ 10:15 the fact that GSP started with basically no wrestling or grappling skills, but ended up becoming one of the best mma grapplers of his (or any) era is just crazy! It shows his level of dedication, discipline, and his willingness to drop any ego..... that's the kind of stuff that make world champions. I've always heard the mma greats say "if ur the one dominating or the best guy in ur gym then ur in the wrong place. U can't make progress if u never get tested". Bones Jones is great but GSP is the real GOAT! (Arguement to be made for DJ as well but George's is my #1)
He spun it so positively, which is wild for it being a second language regardless of how long he's know English. Guy was right about saving those brain cells! He’s got em all still.
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis when I was 21. Fasting has been the only thing that has helped. Docs wanted to give me all sorts of poisonous medicine, I declined and did my own research. No grains, no high fructose corn syrup. Dropping those, I have no problems. Fasting makes me feel sharp. I also have tendonitis like JSP was talking about that comes up, but goes away completely when I fast. It's unreal hearing him say this stuff, I knew he had UC for years but never heard him talk about it. Im 33 now and only have relapses when Im obviously not trying with my diet.
The dose makes the poison. The medicine in itself is not poisonous. That’s just blatant chemical phobia and anti science. Pretending you know more than the professional is getting people killed, although you still should make sure you know how your body reacts to certain things
How long are talking fasting-wise? Also curious about what works for you with your diet? I have many people including family that suffer from UC and any input would be greatest appreciated 🙏
@@user-cb1mv2mw4f Honestly any fasting helps. The longest I have done is four days, but I can tell day one if I dont eat I have more energy and am more able to do things. What I just said is how I feel, as for actual UC symptoms... Prolonged consumption of soda and sugars leads to more ulcers, blood and pain. Specifically for me it's fountain soda, high fructose corn syrup and I believe folic acid. I was taught it was stress related, but Ive been really stressed and fasting/quitting sugars/grains fixes my problems. It bears mentioning Im not a doctor, nor do I have severe UC. My UC is fairly minor at at the end of my digestive tract, but I imagine my quick responses to symptoms, i.e., I fast for a day or two immediately, really helps a lot. If people dont handle the symptoms, its like JSP says in this podcast, it can lead to horrendous, life altering issues. Lastly you asked about my diet, I will preach no artificial sugars and no grains. I was lactose intolerant most of my life, but a week of cutting grains and fake sugars (Sugars not found in whole fruit, whole veg, honey or maple syrup), I could drink milk and eat cheese. For three months I ate no grains and no sugars and was completely healthy and stronger than ever. Mostly because of laziness, I eat grains frequently now but monitor certain aspects of them. For example, I eat no American produced pasta/grains because they are 'enriched' and that means they have folic acid, which I believe hurts my digestive system.
I will forever LOVE that Theo is so damn empathetic that he starts speaking in the accent of every single guest by the end or picks up on their hand gestures😅- this just makes my heart melt♥
Funny how both of these American prides come from French cultures EDIT: to those who are butt hurt, I was only pointing this out because I find it funny when the black sheep/excluded ( québécois, Cajun, Southern folks) get suddenly accepted to the group the second they have success. Here in Québec we get a ton of hate from English Canada but if we get any success ( like GSP, Celine, Dennis Villeneuve... or Poutine and maple syrup lmao ) we suddenly become "Canadian".
@jimmythumbtack typical French comment. Quick to try and benefit from the hard work of others. Are you from Quebec? If so, send someome to take Trudeau home.
As someone who lives with an intestinal disease similar to Crohn's Disease, whose father passed away from Crohn's, works in LE, and trains in MMA, I see GSP as an idol of mine. I've always had that same fear when competing and to learn he was able to fight with Ulcerative Colitis gave me inspiration to push myself beyond my limits even with fear and uncertainty in my heart. With that I've continued to train Martial Arts, got into Policing, and became a member of SWAT. Part of that is due to GSP and him presenting himself as a good, genuine person
Theo is so emotionally smart and good at what it does, that he understands GSP even with his (big) accent, Being from Québec, it makes me so proud. GSP is an all around Icon here!
MONTREAL! CANADA! GSP! THEO! WOW!😊 Goerge is so humble and full of humility and respect...he js one jf my all time idols...the most fierce weapon of a fighter is his brain. And Theo is always great...I lives to see these 2 together.. ❤
As a Canadian the way he talked about what we went through during Covid needs to be talked about more...I'm glad he wasnt scared to talk about the testing in sports, the weird opening ceremony in Olympics, etc. We need more free voices.
GSP is the greatest UFC fighter and his record is only 50% of it. He should be exulted in our sport for every facet of the man. If i had a son I would show him GSP as this is what everyone should look towards for greatness
Every time I hear an interview with Georges I like him more. He so humble and just seems like a genuinely good dude. He’s the goat in my opinion. The level of competition he faces and the fact that he never failed a drug test puts him at the top of the list in my opinion
His final words in the interview: “Well no, I’m afraid of a lot of things, but I’m willing to do it. That’s the difference.” That was an amazing interview!
GSP is a Canadian inspiration! This man has alot of great advice about life, not just sports. He was my favourite to watch during his career, Cheers Georges and Theo from Vancouver!
I read this comment early in the video and thought, “What the hell does this even mean?” but then that moment in the interview happened and it all made perfect sense. 😂
I love how GSP shouts out the real OGs of the UFC and how savage those men were. Coming from one of the greatest of all time says a lot about those pioneers.
Gsp was my favorite. When he commanded the entire stadium to leave Perry alone after he beat him and the entire stadium listened and obeyed was the most BOSS move i ever saw.
GSP is one of the reasons I got into following UFC. One of the best to ever do it and we, as Canadians, are proud to call him one of our own! Great interview!!
So happy to hear Georges speak of fasting. That along with cutting out sugar & carbs cured my psoriasis, plantar fasciitis, HBP and I lost 50+ pounds. So many people could benefit from his advice!
I give theo props cuz i know how hard it must be to try to understand george (wait! I just realized Theo is from lousiana and george is french lol) and I love george for coming on the pod cast. one of my favorite quotes in fighting was from george. "I dont talk shit in english, because its not my first language so I'll always lose, i prefer to talk in the ring" which he made a living out of.. such a legend. Thanks Theo this meant a hell of alot to us Canadians
GSP is one of my favorite fighters of all time. He's so genuine. I love that he speaks so openly about his fears. Dude is a walking locker room speech...
