Head coach John Thompson, with Patrick Ewing as his center, guided Georgetown toward the top of the Big East and built his program into a national powerhouse during the 1980's. Narrated by John Facenda. A Tel Ra Production.
David Wingate, Mugsy Bogues, Reggie Williams and Reggie Lewis ( i think) played together in HS at Dunbar in Baltimore. That has to be one of the best hs teams in history.
One of John Thompson's admitted biggest regrets was not recruiting Muggsy Bogues. I think if Reggie Williams told Big John that he and Muggsy were a package deal he probably would've gave Muggsy a scholarship since Reggie was the #1 recruit in the country. Can you imagine Muggsy up front and Patrick in the back on defense? I'm getting goosebumps now just texting this.
@@missayawk that would have been an amazing starting five. I wonder why he did not recruit him? Dunbar is only an hour away, and that HS team was very high profile. Especially in the DC area.
I'm sorry, I don't have anything from Georgetown's 1984 season. Even though this film touches on a few games from the '82-'83 season, it seems like more of a recruiting film to show to prospective players as opposed to a video yearbook intended for the public. They probably didn't make one like this every year. Too bad they didn't commission this a season later. No better way to promote your program than to present a National Championship to interested high schoolers. Glad that you found and enjoyed this one.
