Yes indeed. Much deeper strategy and certainly deeper tactics than Chess. Much more concrete than Go as well. Draughts is truly the queen of all mind sports!
@@tommycapello9577 Hmm, let me show you some of the chess strategies... (Taken from "How To Reassess Your Chess") Superior minor piece Pawn structure Space Material Control of a key file Control of a weak square Lead in development Initiative King safety These are not even half of them. I may continue later.
@@tommycapello9577 All these strategies are in Chess as well, only The Gates and Self-Taxation are not. Do you have a superior minor piece, pawn structure, or tombing?
@@LeventK They are very different games, each with its own strategy and goals. The rule of compulsory capture in draughts is used to set traps and break enemy positions, and we have shots too, which means carefully setting a trap that allows you to capture many pieces with a single and devastating super jump. Draughts is a game of merciless annihilation, and you need to think super carefully and calculate many moves ahead in your mind, just like in chess. You should give draughts a try, it's worth all the learning.
@@robbielewis4740 checkers player here, honestly that's like someone commenting on a chess game with "let them play monopoly". they don't play chess, so of course they'd do poorly, a chess player would do poorly in checkers because it's a different rule set, and there are different rule sets within checkers,
@@Lemon-qs3uz look. The thing is this. Chess also have a finite moves the complexity is indeed more but it's still a game that is possible to be solve and will be solved. What matters is as human being can u solve checkers? Nope, no human is as good as a computer in that sense that they can solve chess nor checkers by always making the correct move.
@@CCheukKa actually in draughts there are more possibilities then chess and different strategies. Chess has more rules so people think it is harder but it isn’t. it’s around the same difficulty.
Joe Dorben you clearly don’t understand youtube, lmao. Btw this game starts with a perfect and invulnerable position (unlike chess) that only gets worse with every movement. Thanks for taking my comment seriously, kisses and hugs.
@@joseluistorrente3395 Thats why I prefer chess. Not that checkers is not good, but chess relies on a great opening, good structure making, attack momentum and game analysis. During the entire 3 phases of a game of chess you need to have a plan for everything, and thats what makes it beautiful.
U must be indian bro😂 I had same feeling when I saw that. I was thinking Y this players using carrom coins to play chess?😂😂. I went through comment section after that, and found fight between chess players and this game. They think this game has more strategies and Possibilities than Chess🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. They don't know chess has more 6 billion moves probability.
@@Kashi-jz4ew seriously? 6 billion? Lol chess has more then 10^40 legal moves(if illegal moves are counted then 10^120 moves, which is more then the number of atoms in the observable universe!) Go do some research even checkers has more then 6 billion combinations(It has 500 quintillion combinations).
For people that are not familiar with this game: It's International Draughts, with rules different to those of English draughts or American checkers. There are many official tournaments, including world championships. Also, draughts is a lot more challenging than it looks.
Yh true draughts is actually kinda underrated tbh. People keep comparing it to chess just because they have similar boards and think it's very easy since there's only one type of piece
@@f2p781 Well it is easy, like Chess it's all about how far can you see. We all play this game in my hometown, even children at the age of 6 can understand the game. You gotta be so dense if you couldn't. Currently a 2086 lp in Lichess and one move in a classical tournament takes about 40 minutes. I'm saying it with experience and my elo. Checkers is practically the easiest board game I know aside from T-T-T. I could download every app there is about Checkers and I'll beat every engine. List them rn.
@@denzelclauded.pagaduan9560 maybe, but checkers has different rules depending on the country, it's like a language with its dialects, while chess only has one way to be played
@@ilrompiballe6187 Chess has only one way to be played? Are u kidding me there are more variations of chess than there are to checkers. Antichess, Horde, KOH, CrazyHouse, Chess960, Atomic, Three-Check, Racing Kings. Hexagonal Chess, Chessboxing, Displacement Chess,Transcedental Chess. I could go on and on and not even the number of countries combined can outnumber them. For Checkers, no matter what country the one major rule still doesn't change and it's that the pieces must move or capture in a diagonal move. As long as that rule won't change, then the key to winning is simple. Again name me all the Checkers app and I'll beat every engine there is. A kid can play so well in Checkers but not in Chess, only those born with natural talent or those with efforts to study each gambit.
In draughts, or checkers, a good player sometimes sees fifteen or twenty moves ahead in order to calculate a win against a strong opponent. We set traps, sacrifice pieces to gain positional advantage and carefully prepare game-ending shots. Trust me, draughts at high levels of play is not easy at all!
Bro just use your RU-vid and search Hikaru Nakamura premove chess, You won't be disappointed for sure and after that tell us how many moves you plan before you move. Chess is all about calculation, I won't comment about this game bcz I don't know much about it.
Nope,I can say it's very easy,I once beat a pro draught player he played in several competition but I think Im more inclined into indepth calculation and just how I want to play positional just make sure to set traps or plan ahead lol not that really hard. And the opening are almost always repeated tho the game is fun for quick games and for drunk people lol.
@@sickofseeingjustsomeguywit8168 The jumps are not all the same, did you know that? A good shot is a combination of jumps from both sides, some of them with multiple captures, and we have to calculate where exactly everything is going to land.
There is no checkmate in this game You only need to capture all the pieces of your opponent Once your piece reach at the other side of the board them that piece is promoted and can move backwards and forwards
2:59 the two players are sending secret messages about the others' wife to each other (by way of morse code) in the time-honored tradition of traditional draughts. It's nice to see this still happening at the highest level.
I was a chess fan when I was a kid, but then I haven't played any chess game for years and then I became so good at checkers that I started to play chess again. I mean, I understand and I like both games, but chess it's obviously harder than checkers. But that doesn't mean that in this game you don't use strategies. If you make random moves in checkers, you can easily lose the match.
MY KIND OF GAME THERE IS NO GAME QUITE LIKE CHECKERS THE GREATEST GAME IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD NO QUESTION ABOUT IT I LOOOOOOVE THIS GAME TO DEATH 💘 CHECKERS IS MY LIFE AND MY LIFE IS CHECKERS GOD BLESS YOU ALL
If you can play and understand chess, checkers is a piece of cake. I began as a chess player and gave up because I got fascinated with checkers espescially this variant.
I played checkers with my grandfather and when i wach they play i think that i can win with both of them just im awful chess player, but have more fun of playing chess as low.
You can replay the game at toernooibase.kndb.nl/opvraag/applet.php?taal=&kl=44&Id=2829&r=7&jr=13&wed=621091 Or learn draughts for instance with this free book translated to many languages www.fmjd.org/promo/cid.php
It’s called draughts. Like checkers, with few different rules. “Queening” or getting one piece to other side of board means that piece can move as far as it wants diagonally.
"But chess is much, much harder" no one gives a shit, they are different games played in different ways, just because an instrument is easier to play, it doesn't mean it can't be played beautifully
Different from Chess, in Draughts computers have always a perfect complete game resolved. The game has been completely mastered and a machine has the perfect way to play from move 1.
completely false , it is weakly resolved in checkers (which means it wont ever lose ) but here it is international draught . So far there is "endgame" base with 10 piece black and white (out of 40), it takes about 8 month to download , good luck with that
@@Rombizio You are speaking of checkers then, not international draught so it is quite irelevant . To my knowledge checkers is weakly solved but maybe i missed the recent development
@@Rombizio American checkers was pretty much solved by the Chinook engine. This does not mean that any engine can play perfect checkers. Anyway, what you see in this video is the larger, International style of the game. The best engines for this are still far from perfect.
2:36 i thought you could only move backwards after getting a piece kinged? edit: Captures by the Men: Men can effect capture by moving forward or backward and jumping over a single piece of the opponent provided that the said piece is adjacent to it and the following square is empty. If the man can jump again from the arrival square to effect another capture, then it must do so.
people arguing about chess vs. checkers is just like League of Legends vs Defense of the Ancients all over again. We just have to accept that they are different games, with different sets of rules, and therefore different strategies, so no need to bicker about it.
It's a competitive rule stipulation, dissimilar to westernized recreational checkers. Uncrowned pieces my only move forwards but capture in both directions.
As a chess player, who has read a few books on checkers years back, I find it very hard to assess a checkers position, and decide on the best move. It seems there are not positional and strategic guidelines like in a chess position.
Material advantage is one factor, freedom of movement another. 10x10 draughts/checkers is a highly tactical game with deep combinations. There are openings and endgames to study, etc.
@@nannan7516 i dont think so becouse this series was made just to show femenism, whole story line can be replaced by just "everyone thout girls cant play chess but they can"
