Geospatial Streetscape Geometry API For Unity Is Here!

In today's XR video, we will look at another one of Google's NEW Geospatial tools called Streetscape Geometry API, which is now part of ARCore Extensions for Unity. The Streetscape Geometry features allow you to visualize buildings and terrains by providing you with mesh geometry in Unity. It also enables you to use this data for occlusion and raycasts.

Tried the Geospatial API. It still has issues with Anchoring. The demos they may have solved it but it may be black boxed until we get better docs on how that stuff works more in depth.

Thanks for your feedback, when you say issues with anchoring, do you mean it wasn’t accurate? Was it tested on high or low altitudes? What country was this done in? Did you have an anchor manager w/ AR Anchors?

@@dilmerv Hey! I had all of that set up I had a zeroed out had Logs of the latitude, longitude, and altitude was at 0 showing on my screen during runtime on my samsung galaxy s21+. It was having performance issues and still was drifting way too much when it did show up approximately in the location i set it too also after a few builds the AR Camera stops working on the builds which I am still debugging that but its hinting towards performance issues. So i can have it show up but everything else starts to suffer so I dont know what could be causing all these issues from this api.

Great video, however just trying to build what I get from the repo, I have the "ARBallShooter" error (fixed), but I keep getting the black screen on device. I'm able to see the UI and throw the balls but the camera doesn't work. Any help please?

Hi Dilmer, the Streetscape Demo is not working. I builded the scene and get the canvas view on my phone. But i can't should balls or see any semantic scene.

Thanks for the great demo video and demo project. I ran your project but the iPhone 14 did not show anything but camera footage in StreetscapeDemo. Is there any possible solution to this problem?

Hi Dilmer, Thanks for your great tutorial! Quick question for you, if I was to use AR geospatial to drop a future building in location and then use the geospatial streetscape geometry as an occlusion mask, is there a way to "cut out" the part of the streetscape geometry where the future building will be so it doesn't occlude it since the current building would be demolished? Thanks!

Thank you for amazing content! I was wondering if there is a way to bring Cesium Google Maps geometry to AR app ? It could be cool to see scaled down immersive 3D google maps sitting on my desk!

This is cool but also a lot and very fast 🥲 I have difficulty to find the information on how to just display the 3D buildings and assign an occluder material to them (to mask out the buildings in front of an oversized 3D model further away for example)

How do you test your iOS builds on Windows? (What tools do you use?)

After building I see black screen in the app. It seems there is no problem getting the geometry info (altitude etc) but it says point you camera to buildings. I know that I have given camera access but why might be the problem? Thanks so much, I really appreciate your content.

Check whether you add AR Background Render Feature component into URP-Balanced-Render inside Assets->Settings folder

This could only help for areas Google knows about it which in most cases is for outside use cases, for instance this would be great to help people in following a mountain trail and know exactly where to place outside anchors with 3D objects or 2D. For indoor, that would be something you would need to map manually with markers as references and build a system which understands this data.

Dear Dillmer, I am using the newest unity and visual studio version but I keep getting this error: error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'ARBallShooter' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Yes I cloned your project having lots of errors, than I kind of copied everything including the ballyhooed cs in my project and now I face the error CS1061 for „value". I checked your video again to see if I am missing something but I really can’t get through

Hello , I need a help with the AR Core - ARFace for wearing a helmet over the face which do not collide(i.e. do not instantiate in front of the face). Cool, i have a quastion? Google cloud have alternative for development AR Geolocation for free no payment api's? Or this impossible? Google only? Because im look many different authors in RU-vid and all they talking about Google Cloud backend...

Normally Google cloud only offers paid services, there is a period where it is free but once you hit the limit then you have to begin paying. Good question !

the same output I am getting, building are augmenting bypassing the wall. Any way building get augment when we are on road. And not bypassing between the wall. @dilmerv
