GEOSynths Sound Design Tutorials - DSI REV 2 - Warm Pad 

Best tutorial I've found as a complete beginner, didnt leave out any steps and explained what everything does thanks!

Had my Rev2 for almost a year and never knew about that shortcut to initialise a patch!

Quick but very useful tip: if you press and keep pressed down the MISC PARAMS button, you can read on the screen the value of any knob you turn without changing the value. Thx for the excellent tutorial...!

Thanks for this tutorial. One of the best explanations for building a pad sound I've ever come across. The delay technique is killer. I no longer miss my Juno 106 chrous.

there is actually a shortcut to assign the pressure (aftertouch) to the mod source. just hold down mod source and press any key (keyboard) for 2 times. And thanks a lot for the video, i learned a ton of new tricks ;)

I bought a Rev2 a year ago,the next day I returned it for a System8. Because I couldn’t get any warmth out of it. It’s all buzzy and fizzy. Then 3 months later a prophet 08 module comes onto the used market and I was looking for some analog brass that only a prophet could delivered. So I picked it up and when I set evenings playing with it, I realized that it’s very finicky with amounts but when you find that sweet spot, it comes to live. Yes it’ll always by fizzy because of the CEM. But it makes it terrific for mixing! It’s now a stable, always in the lower end of my songs. In this song I even made it the lead: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ME6UkPlB3us.html and that’s only a mildly tweaked factory patch. But that buzz lifted it up, where before it was a bit too tame sounding.

How about using gate sequencer to mod the noise and have interesting pattern of noise while pad evolves? Gate sequencer is probably one of the most powerful features of REV 2. This insane mod matrix allows you to modulate 4 tracks (or 2 with slew) of data in different tempo. Hows that for evolving and moving pad - try that out. Aux envelope as well, on LFO4 intensity. I mean ,you dont have to use all mod slots just because they are there - this is high end synth, sounds great with few tweaks already - but it is good, if you want to demonstrate its full power , to modulate from all sources.

Hi, I dig this tutorial so much. One thing - is it possible to equal the levels of talking and synth playing? It's a bit hard to follow this on commercial headphones (I'm in the cafe shop) when sometimes levels are huge (synth) vs really low (speech)

Hi, Ok I got my rev2 and am going along with your tutorial, and when it comes to the filter, it feels like mine just behaves so much differently. the decay stage comes so much later than yours does. Is it something ive done? Some setting?

Hey! Great video. Just got one of these and I'm having a blast with it. Was wondering what that occasional click sound is coming from? I notice it at 32:25. Is that coming from the synth?

only thing bad about this is difference in volume of the synth and the mic. the mic is super low compared to the keyboard.
