Correction for you...... The centre drive bit holder on the Dual Force DOES line up properly IF you close the tool with the pliers set to the wide position.....😉

I wish they would have replaced the saw with some shears. Never found a use for a saw on one of these but usually will use the scissors one or twice

If you close the pliers while the slip joint is in the larger position the center drive would be straight as an arrow

I suggest that if you need to "swap the bits over a couple of hundred times a day" you would definitely not be using a multitool! You would have the dedicated tools needed to do the job. If you arrived at my place to do a job, and you came with only a multitool, I wouldn't let you in the door. Multitools are for occasional use when you don't have access to dedicated tools!

Yeah I know. And there are also people hauling around 24 bit sets for their Leatherman tools, so I no longer presume to know exactly what my viewers are doing

Multitool is just like a side arm specially when you have to travel light with no specific big job to do. Multitools are not suitable for a professional job.

Late in commenting but you can have 6 bits in it if you use those super short double sided bits. Most of those duble side bits you can find are 1 or 1 1\4 inches but you can get ones that are bellow 1inch and they will fit perfectly in it and not fall off when used

Maybe assess wire cutting ability with a single strand wire?
@jared8530

The slip joint has to be in the shorter position for it to close properly
@mikehunt8968
@mikehunt8968 Год назад
Nope, it closes in either position, but in the wide position the centre drive bit holder actually does line up in the centre 🙄😉

Are the handle edges where the scale markings are, is the edge of the handle straight or slightly curved?

Hello, good video! While this video is a first impression, do you see the plier head as being substantial? I get the impression that while it may not snap, it might twist with very heavy use...what do you think?
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 2 года назад
The plier head feels solid at the moment. I’m wondering what you mean by twisting. Twisting as in turning bolts? Or as in twisting up twine into rope?
@edgaraquino2324

@@inkiron3907 I mean as in turning stubborn bolts...
@f1reguy587

The plier when used in a straight line is fine, holding anything on the tip isnt a good hold, so your not unscrewing screws with it, if you want to twist it it will twist but the sliding face has play in it which allows it to shift, so this twist will not go well, but i dont twist my regular electric pliers, but ill assume that to twist a head-snapped screw out is where the twist is most apparent, but the tip of the jaws will slip off anyway so i dont think the twist is an issue, they were so close to getting this plier right, but its not bad, i still prefer my leatherman surge…but the plier sux on them.

You mentioned breaking in your surge with diamond paste. I'll have to search through your videos. Did you have a hard time making sure once the job was done, you removed any left over?
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 2 года назад
It was easy to flush out the Diamond paste from the pivots with some isopropyl alcohol afterwards. The real trick is finding any little smudges of the stuff elsewhere, so cotton swabs come in handy

I bought this multiplier tool at Walmart for $96.00 plus tax. As soon as I opened it I realized I made a mistake. There aren’t many useful tools on this for the price. I returned them to Walmart the following day. It is way overpriced. The Ozark Trail MultiForce tool is far better at $43.

Own this tool, its …ok, it needed scissors, and the file/chisel needed to be hardened, its not up to the challenge, i can handle the stiffness of the movement, the pliers design is great…but not perfect, again, it needs to be alot harder, you could have got this product right, but its not quite there.

@@xlilnetx it works great. I ditched the sheath and put it in a maxpedition pouch that sits in my back back with other tools, I think that’s important to know because it’s too big for something that sits in your pocket. The only modification I’ve done is put some tape to indicate where the plane edge blade is. The tools are smooth and work well.

Hahaha, No one knows how to use the Centerdrive wire cutters. So if you actually read the manual. Shouldn't have to but common sense tells you; carbide can't cut a ten penny nails the way those cutters bypass. Too shallow, and the cutter profile is almost flat. Manual says, solid copper wire only, fish hooks or wire similar to fish hook diameter ONLY. No one at Gerber clarifies. Everyone just assumes the Gerber cutters are in direct competition with Leatherman. They are not. Max level EDC found an upgrade made out of HSS instead of carbide off amazon. Gerber cutters are basically the same size as many cutters used with lathes.
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 2 года назад
Well I was ignorant, but also I think they could have clarified that on any of the dozens of videos where they’ve demonstrated the tool
@mackjones7688
@mackjones7688 2 года назад
@@inkiron3907 You would think that they would make a point of that. I don't think Gerber pushed their built-in cutters the same way Tim Leatherman did with his. Tim actually made a point to demonstrate this when he showcased his tool. Gerber has only said in marketing "has replaceable wire cutters". That is one of the big cons people point out in reviews too. The wire cutters are fragile. You would think Gerber reps would be sounding off in the comments sometimes. Instead you get silence.
@SpacecityEDC
@SpacecityEDC Год назад
I've yet to have my wire cutters on my Gerber Centerdrive fail or shatter and I've used the tool about 2 years now but I don't try and cut nails or hard wire with them. Just electrical wire and safety wire which the largest diameter on that is .040
