My uncle has a folding version of this exact knife and he used a grinding wheel. When I offered my work sharp. And it has a toothy edge that he says holds up through about half way through his second buck skinning sesh. So I think it actually hold pretty well for the price. Even the rubber handles are worn but still very grippy

Awesome man! I shot a video of the folder as well. It will be making its way to the channel shortly. Thanks for watching brother

I have one of these that I keep in my 48 hour pack in the car. I bought it specifically because it was inexpensive, full tang, and had good rubberized scales. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a bag knife that's probably not going to ever see any use, and this fit the bill perfectly. I've used it around the house a bit just goofing off, and the edge does go fairly quickly, but I didn't have any issues putting a better one on it with a ceramic stone. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive fixed blade, but I would just say "manage your expectations."

Just bought one off Amazon UK for £12 seems like a decent knife for the money

@@Tctbnl I received 2 of these knives yesterday but only got charged for 1 lol what a score :) ... I am very happy with it for the price. The sheath could be better but can't expect too much for that price. Gonna use it as a backup for my mora bushcraft black knife when wild camping and practicing bushcraft ... Thanks for the review mate I have subbed :)

I bought one of these back in the spring for 30 Canadian pesos. From June to the end of September I was out playing bushcraft with it nearly every day regardless of the weather. It's been dropped on rocks batoned through oak and ironwood and used for every kind of camp cutting chore and put away wet. I've had to fix a light nick once (the Canadian shield is pretty rocky) and with occasional stropping I've kept it shaving sharp despite a lot of rough use. I mostly carry it in my backpack so the shitty belt loop's still fine. I feel the same as you about the handle but it' actually doesn't cause any comfort or performance issues at all. For bushcraft I'd give it a solid 8.7. I'm sure I wouldn't hunt with it though.

Has anyone removed the handle plates? Been wanting to re handle with wood but the bolt closest to the blade doesn’t seem to turn either way?- also don’t want to drill out the screws and need new hardware for it I just want to reuse these bits and simply replace the panels

Never thought about doing it, but now I am 💯👍

@@Tctbnl good luck to you if you do, the bottom screws are simple counter clockwise single screws but I’m not sure if it’s just a lil jammed or what, but they seem linked and only twist a couple degrees with relative ease before suddenly locking up tight, hope you can get a bit more progress than I could 😂🤞

Sounds like someone bought some reviews like Rotten tomatoes did with Star Wars. Gerber makes good budget friendly stuff. I’m considering buying a gerber ghost for my edc, I’m not a tactical guy, I just think i owe it to my self to at least try a fixed blade for something other then hunting, and skinning. Anyway.......I got way off topic thanks for your review. Thanks for making the time to do one.

Not a good one! I have it since 1 year. I have noticed two rusty points on the blade just to discover that the blade has two micro cracs on it! I used it only to cut fishing line not more than 3-4 times. It is made of 5Cr15MoV steel which is chinese copy of German X50CrMoV15 steel. But obviosly not that good. It looks good, it is afordable but no quality here!

This or the Mora Companion? Both around £10-12 here in the UK I know nothing about knives and just want something that will last and take abuse for bushcraft only
@Tctbnl
@Tctbnl 5 лет назад
Good question. To me either way you pick is a winner. Both are reliable, low cost and a steady blade. Best part is if something breaks you ain’t out a lot of cash. Thank you for watching

There is no "crap steel". There is steel that is appropriate based on use and expectations. If you've determined the steel is inappropriate for the intended use, then there seems no point in continuing the review of the knife, no?
@Tctbnl
@Tctbnl 4 года назад
Ah the fun times. Look man people want super steels, when you mention say 5cr15 mov in a review my comments are flooded with “crap steel” comments. So I chose to head it off, and still somehow managed to offend some one. Can’t win them all right
@kenandrljo4916

Sorry but this is "crap steel". I love the knife, it looks beautiful, it feels good in the hand, but steel doesnt follow the rest of a story.

I thought Gerber knives were good knives. Seems that once on the cheaper side, they can be “à gerber”, which kind of means “puking bad” in French (gerber = to puke). 😛

Gorgeous knife, stupud steel! Gerber should have used 9cr18mov instead.

I agree, for a hunting knife they should have used better steel
