I'm pretty sure I have an old broken one in the tool box in the barn. It never occurred to me that it might be covered under warranty. Seriously appreciate this video.
@@SurvivingtheDaily True enough. I returned a Leatherman a year or two back and the process was super easy and quick. The only issue I had was that they sent me a refurb, which was fine, but the refurb wasn't like-new - it was clearly a used tool, just a repaired one in good functional condition. I'm not sure when I've received a replacement anything in the last 10 years and it wasn't basically a new object.
Looks like you got a pretty good outcome in that warranty repair! The diesel seems to be more expensive than the original. Hopefully you like it. I would say the wait was worth it!
I'm definitely happy with the outcome. I told myself right from the beginning that the worst they can do is decline the claim. I wasn't expecting very much.
That's pretty decent I always find most companies dance around warranty. The biggest complaint i have as well as most is Gerber's sheaths are trash mine last 4 days and the belt loop holes tore
I recently sent 3 scopes to Bushnell for repairs. I had to send make/model/SNs before hand. Spent $18 to post them in. Six weeks later, I am told two can not be repaired (due to age) (it was just the reticles that were broken), the third one was replaced with, I'm pretty sure is their cheapest, scope, when the one I sent in was vintage and a Wide Angle. You'd think they would have been able to tell me what could/couldn't be done, what with me having to send in M/M/SN. Not thrilled with the results.
If you're a company and you're going to slap a broad warranty on a product, you better stand by it. Replacing a product with a lower quality one only aggravates customers and you end up losing them in the long run.
@@SurvivingtheDaily It's nice to get SOMETHING, I suppose. I can't recall any car warranty that GIVES you a new car after 15 years. I don't expect them to keep 40yo scopes on the shelf, but it was a wire filament that broke. You guys don't have a soldering iron? *I* have a soldering iron!
@@SurvivingtheDaily I've seen some videos where I guy takes the thin wires out of a USB charging cable and use them to solder in as a reticle. I figure I have nothing to lose.... 👍
Had one of those diesels sent to me , my recoil broke,, but the new one wasn’t like my old one,, the file broke, and Philips head tip snapped tightening a loose cabinet hinge,,,i did contact getber and im hoping they can replace it , but not with the shitty diesel though,, but i wont complain that much had a 4 year run not bad
They were probably trying to figure out how to replace a 20 year old gerber lol. I just filed a claim myself and got that same email 3-4 weeks but they actually got back with me two weeks later and something is coming in the mail. I dont know what it is yet since my claim was about the flat head tip being broken.
So i had the truss and like i stated the flat head broke. They sent me a whole new truss gerber so technically i have two fully functioning gerbers missing just one flat head attachement. This is great news for me and i didnt have to return my old one at all.
I assumed you needed to send in the old one to get a new one under warranty. About 10 years ago, I sent them a Suspension that broke on me and they sent a new one quickly. How did they know you really broke yours? Did you email them pictures?
They didn't ask for the broken one back. They just asked for a couple high quality pictures and a description of the problem. Unfortunately, they don't make this model any longer so I had to settle on a different model. I'm not terribly upset about the replacement. It seems like a solid tool.
I have a few gerber tools and never considered warranty process. I just stopped buying them because quality was so poor. They have great innovations but poor execution.
