Late historian Gerda Lerner points out that women had no conscious history of feminist ideas until quite recently. Over the centuries, women who criticized sexist biblical interpretations were generally unaware of the efforts of previous generations. The great female mystics were living contradictions of the idea that women could only communicate to god through the agency of males.
Gerda Lerner, Ph.D., a founder of the field of women's history, is author of The Creation of Patriarchy and The Creation of Feminist Consciousness.

'When women looked at history for their stories, what we would learn was an absence..... Women do have a presence in history.' Happy birthday, Ms. Lerner. And thank you.

3:01 'The effect on men has been very bad too, of the omission of women's history, because men have been given the impression that they are much more important in the world than they actually are, and that's not a good way to become a human being. It has fostered illusions of grandeur in every man that are unwarranted. If you can think, as a man, that everything great in the world and in civilization was created by men, then naturally you have to look down on women. And naturally you have to have different aspirations for your sons than for your daughters. And I don't think that's good for men, either.' Thank you, Gerda Lerner. This needs to repeated to the end of human existence. Because any way that men can claim ALL the glory and credit for every good thing that happens, they will.

I did not understand why Dr. Gerder said patriarchy was a 'bronze age' invention. She must not have been familiar with the 'early Buddhist texts' (EBT's). The 'Nikayas' (in Pali) and the 'Agamas' (originally written in Sanskrit) are the 2 main collections of these texts. They were originally passed down as an oral tradition for circa 500 years before they were written down. These texts give us an amazing insight into an 'iron age' culture in what we now call India. It was a slave-culture and it was patriarchal. We don't have a lot of information about hunter-gatherer cultures before the iron-age. I don't believe we can establish when patriarchy first emerged?

Laurence Mather hey its super late to reply but this is a really good observation! I just wanna point out that in her book she says she focused on ancient Mesopotamian patriarchal formation because she was already so old and didn’t think she had time left to do a global scale book (it took her about a decade to study ancient Mesopotamia enough to write this book!!) and also so that she could lead into to European/US women’s history (which is more descended from Mesopotamian society than further eastern societies) for her second book of this duology “the creation of feminist consciousness”!

@@shelbyb543 Yes, she made it clear in the book's introduction that The creation of Patriarchy is not a general theory for the creation of patriarchy. It's rather a study of its emergence in Mesopotamian society. Gerda started her college education at the age of 38 and therefore, couldn't do all she could if she had a conventional education timeline. However, she also says that if it hadn't been for her late education, she might not have been able to recognize the absence of women and the strong bias in recorded history against women.

It has to be an invention of man so it can be changed. If it was an invention or design of God then it couldn't be changed. She purposefully left out the Bible and other texts because it destroys her premise and foundation of feminist ideology and goals of equality. There will never be equality until they destroy or change the DNA of men and get rid of God, and that is what they are trying to do.

And we hear about how men are disposable if we aren't important.

Isn't it strange that the Red Pill community and MGTOW are repeating it the most frequently 🤔 Similarly like in feminism, women are talking about some grievances from ancient times instead of learning anything helpful in life 🤔 Leadership rarely has in mind the well-being of followers. I'm fully agreeing on this with Sowell.
