Not while Pistorius is in charge. They're actively working to cut off bureaucracy where they can when it comes to ordering new military material. On top of that, it is very likely the ministry of defence will be granted their request for a € 10 Billion increase for 2024, making the regular budget € 60 Billion.

Latest news is they're negotiating the purchase of 100+ Leopard 2A8 - and those will be produced from scratch, not upgraded 2A4 models. Apparently they're also open to other countries joining the purchase - say Switzerland which seems to be worried about their aging fleet of Leopard 2A4. Edit: Leopard 2A8 will feature a Trophy APS and a bunch of other improvements, but retains the L55 120mm Rheinmetall smoothbore gun.

Germany will not buy 2A7V but 2A8 - which is an improved version with active protection system. 18 are ordered with an option for 105 more. The first of the 18 Leopards for the Bundeswehr are scheduled to be delivered mid 2025. In addition Germany offers the same conditions to its allies, the Czech Republic is interested in 70 Leopard 2A8 and started talks with the producer. With the first production line opening up again, 50 tanks will be produced. If enough orders are placed, additional production lines will be built.

It's the Leopard 2A7V. V stands for Verbessert, or in English Improved. Funny the first German Tank in WWI was called A7V. Named after the responsible department in the War Ministry for Transport Vehicles. Abteilung 7 Verkehrswesen A7V or in English Department, section 7 Transportation. Might be a coincident, but I doubt. I think some smartass in KMW just named it that way by purpose and not just A8.

Germany has recently anounced to aquire 15 of the newest Leopard 2A8 variant with Israeli made trophy system on it which will be delivered at the end of 2024.

I think Germany should not manufacture any piece of this old weapons systems, the same should go to all the EU. They should instead focus on finishing the new weapons systems ASAP instead of finishing it in the upcoming 15 years. Just accelerate it to be done in 2-5 years and start equipting them now and push the old weapons Systems to Ukraine like the leopard a7 and Pzh-2000.

They are not competing and the Leopard 2A7V is practically a new tank. There is no pushing to Ukraine because production lines in Germany are geared for something like 3 tanks a year. You cannot increase production magically it takes time. It is why countries should agree to maintain production lines and some minimal production capacity.

Naja, der Leopard 2A7V ist ein erprobter und hochmoderner Panzer und vorallem in Serienreife (auch wenn die Produktionskapazität niedrig ist), natürlich baut man erstmal sowas, anstatt einem Panther, der noch Prototypenstatus hat. Wobei von dem parallel ein paar Bestellungen sinnvoll wären, bis zum MGCS dauerts noch. Norwegen hat 54 Stück vom Leopard 2 bestellt und mal schauen, was andere Länder noch nachbestellen.

Leopards will surely be destroyed in Ukraine too. As well as T80 and T90 have been destroyed, so what's your point ? Btw, the leopard 2 tanks are not designed to be used as static artillery on exposed positions with no infantry protection. And don't forget, their only purpose has ever been to face Russian (Soviet) tanks on the battlefield.
