According to a Bundeswehr study on former GDR T72A, it was concluded to be slightly less effective than a T72A, but significantly better than a T-64, let alone T-62 or T-55/54.

Besser als T55 & T62. Bei den T72 kommt es auf die Konfiguration und Umstände an. Im Vergleich zum T64, T80, T90 deutlich schlechter.

They may be old but still a very effective tank plus going up against older Soviet model tanks the lep1 will cope with those as for drones, air assets and arty it will need luck and a fast acting crew.

The Klietz training site is 11.9km long and 32km away from the nearest city. ( from the angle they are shooting ) Gonna need a much, much bigger cannon to hit someone house lol

Pretty obsolete by modern standards, but then again so are 90ish percent of the Russian tanks. You could argue it's better than a lot of the Russian tanks just by virtue of it having a thermal sight, at least for the gunner. Lots of Russian tanks still only have night vision.

красивая Кошка Лео-1 и как легко его несёт двигатель. Я помню Т-62 на полигонах в 71-73 годы, который не мог разогнать машину, на поворотах он почти глохнул, с нескольких попыток давал 360 градусов. В рембате двигатель вытаскивали два дня, я видел как на Лео-2 двигатель заменили с ГП за 17 минут и танк уехал.

Finally. The only thing in the field is very much asked not to smoke in armored vehicles (Russians do not like the smell of captured vehicles) if possible, send crews into battle in a tank on an empty stomach. Really less cleaning for trophy teams

I think the thickest part is around 70mm's of Rolled Armor. but tbf, Leopard 1 didn't had amazing armor when it 1st came out. That's because it sacrificed armor for greater speed & mobility & having a much lower profile than the Leopard 2.
