IIK Düsseldorf offers year-round german courses. Courses start every month on ten different levels. Over 2500 students from more than 90 countries learn German for academic and professional purposes at the IIK per year. Open communication in German in international groups is the most natural thing in the world, and with us it happens right from the start. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing in German -- and these at a high level -- are the goal. Naturally, you don't miss out on vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. From the beginning the language used in lessons is German. The IIK orientates itself for the requirements of exams such as Zertifikat Deutsch, TestDaF, and for the new DSH-format.
During the entire duration of studies at the IIK, participants are given advice and support through counselling. Personal contact with teachers and competent IIK-employees guarantee efficient learning at the IIK as well as outside the class room. And when it comes to university exams such as TestDaF and DSH, the IIK offers additional consultation hours and exam training.
The IIK's students benefit from the IIK's accommodations service, free internet access at the school and cheaper tickets for public transportation. Foreign participants in particular benefit from our varied leisure programme: guided city tours through Düsseldorf, trips to Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, or Amsterdam, as well as group cinema visits, cooking courses, salsa evenings, soccer tournaments, regular social get-togethers, and parties are typical examples.
Düsseldorf, a modern and vibrant metropolis on the river Rhine, is an important centre for festivals, concerts, art, media, trade fairs, fashion, museums, and theatres. That the heart of the city of Düsseldorf is already more than 700 years old can be seen in its quaint Altstadt, or "old-town".
In this city of more than half a million people, newcomers from both Germany and abroad feel at home. Roughly every sixth inhabitant in Düsseldorf has a foreign passport.
