Between September 1939 - July 1942 150,000 Jewish refugees arrived in Warsaw, most of them from Poland and some from the Reich.
The German Jews in Warsaw were among the first Jews to be sent to their deaths in the Treblinka death camp in July 1942.

.....incredible footage, fear, anger, despair, feelings of being lost, humiliation, constant anxiety not knowing exactly what was going to happen, but something bad.....these are some of the looks I can see on these peoples faces.......makes me angry and sad all at the same time, bet some of them wished the guy with the camera would just go away......

Very sad. Maybe they felt relieved that they had arrived, unaware of the horror in front of them. These are human beings same as all of us.

The living conditions in any of those ghettos were deplorable. People were cramped into rooms like sardines. There was no running water or electricity. They were kept on starvation rations. People died on a daily basis mainly from starvation. The elderly and children suffered the most.

It haunts me ; especially every time I see that little girl being fed a bowl of soup. That poor innocent kid. Such a tragedy for all of those people...

Just horrific, when we know today the unbearable tragedy these poor people were expected to live... Before dying. It hurts so much.

my great-grandfather was 'lucky' enough to have died in Theresienstadt before he was due to be deported to Auschwitz. It is still hard to fathom for me how ppl could suddenly turn against their neighbors, collegues, friends even. This is no demeanor limited to Germans, and no tragedy exclusively of the past. It can happen anywhere, any time. Just look at the current refugee crisis, how entire countries despise the ppl seeking shelter. It is our responsibility to show some affection and empathy & not to follow the pattern of isolating others in need.

Absolutely not. Barely a few people survived Warsaw. They were all exterminated in Treblinka.

One wonders what was going through the mind of the photographer. Perhaps it's just as well I can't understand such hatred and indifference - it would be toxic.

The common denominator in every human atrocity is religion.
