The national anthem of Germany performed during the funeral ceremony for former German chancellor Helmut Schmidt in main church of hamburg the “Michel“.
That's because it was written by a pro - Joseph Haydn. By the way, it is also a hymn: "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V-BS4IUoghk.html
@@inamoore4536 no…. That wasn't the case about 80 years ago, right? They had the same anthem back then. Still, I'm glad to see that the Germans have come a long way since then and are now respected like any other nationality... well, most nationalities, I would say...
@@comdutch That's because 80 years ago people like Hitler and the Nazis made it very hard on Germans' image. So sad how one man's hateful, racist ideology created havoc for one nation.
Dear Americans, please leave our country and do not drag us into every war. You have already started enough wars in this world in recent years. Russia is your enemy and not ours😉🇩🇪🇷🇺
The Archduchy of Austria (German: Erzherzogtum Österreich) was a major principality of the Holy Roman Empire and the nucleus of the Habsburg monarchy.....
I disagree. I voted to leave and I hope Germany does the same and becomes a sovereign nation once again as it should be. I love Germany and its people in fact my son-in-law and two grandchildren are German nationals, and along with my daughter live in Germany.
@@normanwoods2279 makes no sense to me, germany has with the EU alot more power in contract negotiations with other unions and nations for example and is a export nation. Why should we shoot our economy in the leg? Just to gain imaginary power when it comes to topics like migration or some stupid laws. Name a few positiv effects brexit had to the UK. The World of tomorow will be a world of super nations like india, china etc. we get a way better deal with them if we stick together.

My ancestors did... so no fuether comment on thst and I am sick of people who still think Germany is a cruel and digusting country because of what happened.
Thank you for your kind words! I hope that your country may thrive in peace and freedom, too. I am also aware of the responsibilities of the countries with a strong economy. We'll only be able to preserve our world if we work together. 🇳🇬🇩🇪
@@cugierkoteczka And where are you from to take the moral high ground? You refer to ten years of German history- ten years of hundreds. I can think of many of the 'good guys' whose dark histories span a lot longer- they just hide it better. Germany invading poor little Belgium in World War One- Belgium: the most brutal colonial power in existence at that time. Germany fighting Britain and the United States in WW2: two war-mongering countries whose power only ever came about from the exploitation and destruction of other peoples. Take a look at your own not so good history mate
Thank you so much British pal and friend. We do appreciate you and your fellow citizens, never let a war, a misunderstanding or hatred ever come between us. The Hymn makes me feel patriotic for a country I don't live in. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy and proud for a land I've never been to and I have zero ancestry in. From Indonesia 🇮🇩 Peace and prosperity to Germany 🇩🇪
I can't remember which world cup it was (probably 2006) but this anthem never left my brain. It is solemn, gracious and epic all at the same time. Cheers from Sweden. 🇸🇪🇩🇪
Its a church hymn by Franz Joseph Haydn The tune, by Haydn, was originally written in 1796-7. As a hymn tune, it is usually called Austria or Austrian Hymn, it was hijacked by the nazis
Thank you so much, means a lot to me coming from a polish person after all what we've done to Poland. I hope our countries will forever be on the same side!
Thank you very much Maria! I´ve been last year in Illawa ... got a great and professional trainig over there and met great people. All the best to you and your country!
Noch nie so schön gehört, und da gibt es Menschen in unserem Land die das mit Füßen treten. To all the foreign commentators, THANK YOU very much for aknowledging this beauty
One of my favourite anthems in the world ! Beautiful music and lyrics !Germany is a great country ,having great people and culture. Love and greetings to Germany from Hong Kong ❤
This is my very first time that I'm listening this beautiful anthem and I just fell in love 😍❤ What an amazing recomendation from YT. Love from Mexico 🇲🇽. ¡Viva Alemania! 🇩🇪
Beautiful hymn. Proud to be about 11% German ancestry and feel a kinship with those Germans who have been godly people; the theologians, scientists, the great musicians and those who gave their lives to save the lives of others, as did the members of the White Rose. Thinking of Beethoven who had a progressive spirit politically. Not denying that there were also obviously fascists and bad people (as in every country, as in the US today) but I feel kinship not with them but with the German people of good heart
I have always like the German anthem since I was at school, it is a beautiful tune and - when you know the HISTORY behind it - the words make perfect sense. Certainly one of the best of the world's anthems. From a Kiwi in Ireland.
As an American of Mexican heritage, I have always liked the German national anthem after hearing it in World Cup Soccer games. After hearing this version being sung in a cathedral setting, it just floored me emotionally as it sounded like being sung in heaven. Thank you for posting.
All the best to Germany - studying German in Köln at the university as part of a year abroad for my languages degree (1983) after many school trips to Krefeld and Düsseldorf, and working at a fruit and veg factory in Sesen in the Harz mountains for Sonnen-Bassermann to earn summer money in 1979 - I have loved Germany and all things German for many many years. I’m so sad we lost our connection with Brexit but I’ll always be loyal to my European roots and experiences. God bless from England
A spiritually moving sound that rises above human tragedies with the impetus of the greatest of human compassion. Thank you Hayden for your music . Thank you Germany for being the motherland of great people that added so much to the wealth of European culture. We share the sadness of the many tragedies that have fallen on the people this great nation. My Great Grandfather was killed by the Germans in North Africa, leaving my grandmother and her brother without a father as small children. I was mostly raised by my grandparents due to family issues, so I grew up with a very passionate hatred for Germany and for Japan... Especially Japan, actually. I visited Germany in 2019 and had my world views turned upside down. Germany is a beautiful country with beautiful people, some of the kindest people I have yet seen on my travels. Lovely hospitality and a fascinating nation. I felt embarrassed for my prior views on the German people, for I now see that a people can make amends for their mistakes in the past. I have not yet been to Japan, and I admit that I do still feel a deep anger towards Japan, but I know that if I am to overcome this I must visit the country and see the people. Update: I don't know how I ended up back here again, I forgot that I even made this comment, but now I'm dating a Japanese girl and have been to Japan. I really liked it, so, I'm on a redemption arc I guess
The Germans at that time were 90% evil people. The Germans today are 10% evil people. That we are the way we are today, we have to thank the USA, Britain and France.
Hyden composed with angels at he's side! It & this unique orchestral version represents so well a beautyful Germany..free,open & together..mindful of this country & it's people who has been through so much toil ,& dam hard work!!..this is a masterpiece of a national anthem.Warm wishes Germany.John Ireland.
@@ALEXANDAR7nfortunately not. "God save the King" and the German "Kaiserhymne" or the "Imperial Hymn", the unofficial hymn of the german empire indeed share the same melody.
Europe will not forget and will not forgive that Germany did not want to help Ukraine and wanted to have buisnesses with Russia. You are ugly. All you wanted was blood of ukrainian children in your Nord Stream pipe lines from Russia. At the begining of the war Germans told Ukrainian Ambasador that Germany will not help Ukraine. Ukraine will exist maybe hours and thats the end of this country. I am European. I wanted to forgive Germany Hitler's crimes but what you did in 2022... hahaha. While Poland was giving to Ukraine 250 tanks you wanted to give 5000 helmets. I hate you. But dont worry. Eastern Europe knows now that we can count on each other and not on Germany. You lost everything Germany. Nobody will accept no more your hegemony in Europe. You are traitors.
We have a local German American Club in Louisville which we visit frequently! Octoberfest coming soon! Delicious beers and homemade schnitzel! Yummy! 🍻 Prost!
Only someone who was fortunate enough to have lived consciously during his reign can truly appreciate what a great politician we have lost in this man. The best German head of government of the 20th century. He will be missed forever and we should all measure by him who come after...
I was a teen back then, today I know whom we have lost. Having understood to some extent what it meant to have survived the war and having to build a new society and a new country I now see what men of high calibre many of them were whether it be Helmut Schmidt, Franz-Josef Strauß, Hans-Dietrich Genscher etc.
Und die Melodie unserer Nationalhymne war mal die Melodie der österreichischen Kaiserhymne (Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze...) und stammt von Österreichs großem Komponisten Joseph Hayden. Tja, tausend Jahre gemeinsame Geschichte hinterlassen Spuren.
Excellent response, and I thankyou for taking the time. Growing up in the Lutheran church in America, back in the 1950s, I was familiar with the tune as it was used as a Christian hymn entitled: "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken." It is interesting to note that it is stated in the hymnal that it is an "Austrian Hymn," I suppose because, its composer, Haydn was Austrian. I have always known it, however, as "Deutschland Uber Alis," ie. the Fatherland Over All. Once again, thanks.
This is a wonderful interpretation of a beautiful national anthem. Well done to all the singers and members of the orchestra from one of the many friends of Germany in Ireland
