U.S M4 Sherman Early Production cramped ? Look at the Sherman and early T-34s you’re tanks were nothing but population control and the idle steering thing was a myth so was the transmission thing .
@ArcticWolf00Alpha0
@ArcticWolf00Alpha0 3 года назад
I think your opinion is ver subjective considering that the Panther was considered to be Germany’s best tank, while it had its problems with its final drive that doesn’t mean it was bad, it’s fun was superior to that of the tiger in terms of penetration, it was also faster and more mobile than any other German heavy tank, it was cramped but it was beneficial for its crew as the chance of ricochet was much higher. The Panther was no doubt a good tank, I believe your opinion is more subjective than anything else. I know one thing for sure... it certainly wasn’t the worst.

@steiny blah blah blah! Which RU-vidr did you regurgitate that nonsense from? Was it the guy who is 6'5 and can't fit in a tank that the average operator would have been 5'8 at the most? Or was it the one who cited postwar French reports on worn out and previously damaged tanks which were operated and maintained by men who were not familiar with the vehicle?

Beautiful, deadly and efficient machine! It also had the best anti-tank gun mounted on any tank during the war (my opinion, but fairly well supported). It was easy to steer, had a smooth suspension, had good mobility, had sufficient power, and had decent armor protection (especially on the front). As for the gun, it wasn't just about the high muzzle velocity and flat trajectory, this tank had excellent long-range optics, which allowed them to utilize the long-range capabilities of the gun. Definitely a machine that you didn't want to encounter face to face in an open field (if you even saw it before it took you out). I've always said that the Panther should have been the height of German tank innovation during the war. They should have simplified the design somewhat (made it cheaper and easier to maintenance) and learned how to mass produce this machine and use it almost exclusively as the main battle tank, while still producing large numbers of Stug III to serve in the infantry support and anti-personnel roles. Forget the Tiger and King Tiger, it should have been all about the Panther IMO. Not that it would have won them the war in the end without some other major changes in doctrine, but it would have been the smart thing to do.
@infinitystormsafire2425
@infinitystormsafire2425 2 месяца назад
It was a bit impractical tbh. It was taller and larger than the sherman and had a pretty slow turret traverse, and was a bit hard to transport and required more maintenance. It would be better if they focused on perfecting the panzer iv.

Had there been fifty thousand (50,000) Panthers vs fifty thousand Shermans, the war would not have ended in spring of '45 in Europe. The US Army's own estimate was five Shermans to kill one Panther. On top of that, the Russians fought the Deutsche (Germans) four years and won more territory back than the Anglo American forces did, which only fought them for three years and four months basically. Not to say that there wasn't terrible fighting in Europe, but we need to get the facts straight.

@@erichvonmanstein1952 I disgress because the Panthers produced after 1944 altroug better did had serious issues with the weak final drive but I think it could last longer then the notorius 150 km before breaking down (in fact most of the surviving Panthers still have the original final drive) if driven carefully, but it did suffered badly welded fuel pipes, a common problem in the final months of war, that tended to catch/leak fire in the overheated engine compartment and issue with the 3rd gear that was the most used gear. Generally speaking it was the chronic shortage of spares (aside fuel) that grounded them that could have been been relatively easy repared. Regarding sabotage I never heard of this with the Panther and also the StuG III and the Pz.Kwg IV so it was probably minor. Instead I heard of many cases regarding the Fw 190 A-8 that was sabotaged. Probably most of them came from the so-called "forest" factories...

Sounds like; Some cylinders are not working and ignition problem it has. + horrible incorrect paint job.

It's the correct paintjob for when it was in French service. Funfact: panther tanks served longer in the French army than in the German army.
