@Wrestling Shoot Vault But it was. Nicholas Morran actually has the evidence and statistics from official archives, he even states this. You fanboys have nothing except you think German stuff is cool. But facts don't care about your feelings, so there is no use really arguing about it, because you people are just delusional. Yes, the Panther was an impressive beast but it had major flaws. While it was possible for a Panther to inflict nasty losses more often then not they were quickly flanked and destroyed. They were very expensive to produce in terms of resources and man power (German industry did not use Reichmarks so the rm cost is irrelevant). Mobility is a mixed bag. When you had a good pair of new treads an expert driver could pull some crazy shit with a Panther. Unfortunately new treads and expert drivers were in short supply by 1944 and many Panther met their end when flanking M4s and T-34 got the all important 1st shot off on a flank. It's strategic mobility was atrocious and its logistics train was a nightmare. Its reliability was atrocious but by the end of the war it was “only” terrible. While the Germans managed some serious up time gains most of those came from regulations that forbade neutral steering, urged against cross country movement, set aside more trains and rolling stock for movement over 100 km and rules on maneuvering that doubled the turning radius. In short most of the reliability gains came from neutering its tactical mobility advantages. On average, the Sherman performed it's job easier, and on average was more reliable. There was never a battle in which more than half of the Sherman tanks broke down before they got there, but there are plenty of instances of this happening with German tanks.
e james Tragedy? I’m happy the military, engineers and private sector who believed in a racist bigoted nutter were let down badly by said racist bigoted nutter and his hand picked brothers in crime, but then that’s just me...
Do you know why the panther G wasn't running this year? Also, can they interchange the Maybach engine into the Bergpanther? It would be cool to see that towing the panther G!
I notice this version has all the major vehicle tools on the engine deck, that way stopping any from being lost from scrapping on trees or buildings when on the move.Class vehicle.
It's called Zimmerit and it was a antimagnetic paste coating, but it was pointless because only the Germans used magnetic anti-tank mines in high numbers.
Must have been a real nightmare for allied tanks, but was the Jagdpanther also so unreliable like the normal Panther, burning motor, breaking front sprockets?
The Jagdpanther has exactly the same hull, engine and transmission as the Panther. For almost the same weight. The reliability problems of the Panther have been solved step by step. Simply, the Panther A was rushed out for the Kursk battle and was not yet ready (1942). The reliability problems of the Panther have been solved step by step. Simply, the Panther A was rushed out for the battle of Kursk and was not yet ready. As the Jagdpanther was released in 1944, it benefited from all the improvements and was reliable.
Wow that jagdpanther looks so modern it wouldn't look out of place on the modern battlefield today, it was way ahead of anything the western allies had at the time ,beautiful German engineering!
Yes a beautyful Thing of Tanktechnology but when you are at the wrong End of the Gun, i think that Tankkiller was not soo beautyful. The Moment that you realize this whas mostly the last dreadful Moment of your Live........(hope i found the right words, and you understand, when not.....äh sorry^^)
This is part of the reason why the Germans lost WW2. They over-engineered their machines, build them to last years when in reality the tank would be destroyed within a month or two. The Russians built there tanks "expecting" to lose them in two months. With that said, YES! absolutely magnificent German engineering.
Thats nonesense you v said Russians were building tanks expecting them to lose within a month or two.How in the world then did they win ??? Typical uneducated capitalist 😑
@@panzerpatriot4920 By making shit loads of them. Russia lost over 80.000 tanks. There are even russian documents which did exactly this calculation. Expected tank life 4-6 month. Two weeks, when it arrives at the front and only 14-40 hours when its taking part in extensive fighting. US Data is similar. So it wasn't even a bad idea to build simple throw away single use tanks, if you have enough manpower to crew them (poor bastards). Who is the uneducated clown now?
some lock up these old vehicles in a museum, this one at least has the merit of driving, even if with its 80 years and the rarity of its parts it is necessary to take care of this ancestor.
The Panther had Maybach Steering as the only tank in the war. The Maybach system is essentially a simplified version of the double differential, or more accurately in mechanical terms, a double controlled differential. It replaces the double differential's forward and reverse steering shaft and clutch system with a single shaft that spins in one direction, and brakes on the idlers. Like the controlled differential, the brakes are normally applied to keep the idlers fixed. The steering inputs release one or the other brake to cause the idler to spin and that track to slow. Unlike the full double differential, the other side is not sped up so the system is not fully regenerative, and since both idler sets spin in the same direction, it does not offer neutral steering.
