I hate the german R even through i am German. I am rolling like the russians. Often the r is not spoken in German. I live in the north and many people think i am from Bavaria. 😁 The north German R sounds like the france r. That information could help learners.

"long" is slightly more open than "long" Based solely on her pronunciation and my dialect of English: Think of the "long" sound as like the English "short" sound (as in "bit" or "is" or "win") but longer and MAYBE with the tongue stuck out a little bit further. Think of of the German "long" as the English "long" sound as in "jEEp", "mE", "EAt". I believe the "short" and sounds are more or less exactly like English. I THINK that in some dialects the German "long" is more open than hers and actually sounds more like a long version of the short (eg. "bed" or "ex") or like the English "long" as in "bathe", "hey", or "sang" (last only in some American accents). Many of those would probably be the dialects where and are always pronounced the same. Also note that English vowels vary quite a lot between dialects so this MAY not work for you. To recap. German English "long" as in "sehr" = longer "short" as in "in" (maybe more open in some dialects) "short" as in "Bett" = "short" as in "bet" "long" as in "ihm" = "long" as in "me" "short" as in "Kitt" = "short" as in "kit" Note that is pronounced like when short, but in some dialects (including hers) "long" is basically just a long version of the short vowel, while "long" is a more closed vowel between and . En términos de la Español, todos que puedo decir es que el "larga" en la Alemán es entre y en la Español.

@leehitt4704 4 года назад
@@oceso The difference is where the "ee" sound is made in your mouth. I, is "ee" with the tongue raised up near the roof of your mouth (in the front) and E is "ee" with the corners of your mouth spread wide and emphasis near your soft palate (towards the back part of the roof of your mouth).
