The dutch police generally is one of the chillest you'll ever see, yes the mitch henriquez situation was COMPLETELY unjustified but I've seen many police arrest people and never have I seen it get violent (i'm a dutch person myself)

Sorry for the extended reaction, but something inside me made me respond to this 😅🤣 Police brutality is becoming more of an issue in the last few years yes, but in this video it's taken out of context for a big part. The Dutch educational system is one of the best in the world, just like the police force but yes, incidents happen. It's not just the police being more brute, it's also the people causing it themselves. The army never ran out of bullets, that was a fairytale and exactly what you say, we don't need tanks. The shortage on housing is for real and really an issue. The fact that there're a lot of old people in the Netherlands can be considered as a big compliment to the healthcare system, which is really good. If you really want to judge an entire nation on their clothing, I guess it's time for some self reflection lol. As about the furniture, that's bias. I mean, most pople have white walls, because we live in small houses and white walls give the illusion of more space, just like placing mirrrors. And yes, some people like white furniture, so what? And seriously... the weather? New York has the same climate as the Netherlands, so let's not go to New York! Winter depression occurs, that's why people in the north drink milk (most people in tropical climates are allergic to milk). Why spending a lot of money on airco for only two or three hot weeks per year? A lot of people have a mobile airco unit. Also airco units consume a lot of power and generate more heat than they cool (the total picture), it's bad for th environment. The dyke... showing the Delta Works lol, that's not a Dyke, that structure protects half the country against floods. I thought Americans liked extreme engineering. Let's put it this way: where Americans conquer land, the Dutch create land. Yes, de Oostvaardersplassen is a protected natural area. Animals die of food shortage yes, such is nature. When you start feeding the animals you get too many and the food shortage will only get worse in time. The art of having protected natural areas is to let nature do her work. We also have the Veluwe and national park De Hoge Veluwe', which are open for public and very nice to spend some time there. Also Brabant has great nature, sand dunes and stuff, it's amazing! Deers and cows don't migrate in winter, what a bias. Shops: malls in Europe are far more succesful than in the US. Also the most Dutch people prefer to sleep at night. And furthermore, why would you want shops to be open 24/7? How many night stores in the US are getting robbed per day? The fireworks story is so untrue. Heavy fireworks as we call it, are dangerous to the public and should be ignited by trained professionals. That's common sense. And yes, some stupid drunk people throw fireworks at the police, but that's not the reason. We have 100% freedom of speech, but within reason. What's so hard about being polite and respectful? The Dutch police will treat you with the same respect as you treat them, but they always approach you with respect first. Also the police doesn't give tickets for insulting an officer that quickly. If they do, something happened before and the person already got warned, probably twice. And yes, you can tell an officer to f*ck off, without retaliation (they'll probably ask what your issues are and try to help you). Actually, the Dutch are experts in having opinions about everything, so yes we can! I agree that the Dutch are a bit distanced, which doesn't make us cold people, we just like to have our privacy and personal space. As for being open minded, ever tried to have a normal conversation with an American Christian? 🤣Every nation has open minded and closed minded people, that's not a Dutch thing. If you're invited for a b-day party and you want to bring someone with you who's uninvited, it's normal to ask for permission to bring someone in. It's the same with visiting people uninvited around dinnertime, they'll kick you out when they start having dinner, simply because they didn't count on you being there and don't have enough food prepared. I do agree with the fact that it's hard to make new friends in the Netherlands, especially when you get older. Most people have their friends and their family already, they don't need new of more friends. Also, comparing south Europe with north Europe amkes no sense. South Europe is Latin, the north is Germanic, a different kind of people. People in North Europe are also more direct (and with that more honest). Also, Germanic languages contain less words than latin based languages. We use about half the amount of words to say the same. I live in Peru and Spanish speaking people really love to use a lot of words without saying anything. If you only understand 7% of the Spanish words, you'll probably understand about everything by filtering the right words. Thank you for the upload bro! I think I'll copy this comment and paste it to the original video as well lol

She is from Chili and when Chilean people travel to Spain they automatically acquire visa for 90 days and are free to travel in the EU (Schengen). Well, they failed to get a job on a Spanish tourism visum and therefore The Netherlands and it's people getting the blame for it.

11:03 this is partially true, though I believe paramedics were targeted more frequently than police officers. It’s a fairly small group who acts so degenerative, and everyone else hates those who do this, for the fact that they’re literally attacking emergency services, and because their fireworks are being taken away.

Your reaction to Josefa's video about her time in Amsterdam caught my attention. While she has some strong opinions about the Dutch culture, employment, and social norms, there's room for deeper analysis. Josefa's Amsterdam Experience: Bias and Cultural Expectations: Josefa seems to have entered Amsterdam with preconceived notions-let's call it her "Amsterdam of the Mind." She had specific expectations about the warmth and sociability of the Dutch people. When these expectations were not met, she attributed it to a flaw in the Dutch culture rather than acknowledging that she was imposing her own cultural standard. Irksome Phrases: Josefa's annoyance with the phrase "Hallo Hallo Hallo" exemplifies this. What if this phrase is just a localized social cue, something the Dutch use to navigate busy cycle lanes? Her irritation could indicate a lack of willingness to adapt to local customs, which she might find quaint or charming if she weren't so fixated on her own norms. Social Climate: She perceives the Dutch as cold and unsocial, but could that be a clash between her own expectations and Dutch directness? In many cultures, Dutch straightforwardness is appreciated and not seen as unsociability. Josefa's reaction might say more about her own social expectations than about the Dutch people themselves. Economic Struggles: While her difficulties finding a job and affordable housing are undoubtedly challenging, generalizing these experiences to label the Dutch as "closed" and "stingy" is a leap. Economic factors are complex and can't be simplified to a national character flaw. In short, it seems that Josefa's Amsterdam challenges stem more from a clash between her internal expectations and the external realities of the city. It's not necessarily about Amsterdam failing her, but more about her expectations not aligning with what Amsterdam actually is. Jerry Afriyie's Activism: I won't go into as much detail here since you wanted more focus on Josefa, but Afriyie's activism, while bold and challenging, is fraught with complexities. From his Ashanti heritage and its historical connection to the slave trade, to his past altercation with a police officer, and the financial opacity of Nederland Wordt Beter...each aspect adds a layer of complexity to his cause. It's fascinating to observe how both Josefa and Afriyie have their own sets of internal and external challenges. It raises questions about how much of our experiences and activism are shaped by our own inner narratives, doesn't it?

Mitch Henriquez was at a festival and had shouted to cops that he had a weapon and pointed and grabbed towards his crotch or his waistband like he was ready to pull out a weapon. He refused to leave, the exact circumstances will never be totally found because it was a very stressful situation. The day before there had been a large terrorist incident in Tunisia and with his threats of having a weapon on him, 5 officers took him into custody, one of the officers used a neck clamp technique and that is what killed him. The officer was sentenced to a suspended sentence of 6 months for police abuse that resulted in death. Let us be honest, this was a tragedy for the family and it also hit hard with the police. But some culpability lies with Henriquez himself. He acted like he had a firearm with him and he refused a legal order to leave the scene. Often people die in police custody or because of contact with the police who have mental issues or use drugs, and yes, in the last 2 years the police has had to use more violence towards the public, this had to do with covid deniers who wanted to dominate the streets, extinction rebellion problems who occupied large freeways and they resisted all peaceful ways of leaving and then there are the farmers protests which also lead to extra violence. Farmers blocked highways, created chaos on the roads, started fires to block traffic and even used wrecking hammers to attack police vans. And then I am not talking about the soccer hooligans. So yes, more violence was used but the vast majority was not based on race (and racial profiling is not eliminated yet from any country). If citizens use violence, the police will use violence.

Yes, Mitch caused the arrest but the police put him in a stranglehold and a man did loose their life.

People dressing depressively in the winter... It would help if there were colourful winter clothes available! The only colourful winter clothes you can find are ski clothes... but normal clothes... not so much. This is not just a Dutch problem by the way. It is most certainly a western problem. As for the fireworks: sadly some hooligans (i have no other words for this) do think it is funny to tinker with gunpowder and build big explosives. Those tend to be the clips you see on RU-vid and TikTok. Usually they try to blow something up. Also those imbiciles think it is funny to throw fireworks to other people and animals. That is why there is a growing call for change of the law to only allow professionals to work with high explosives.

The facts about the housing problems are true. There is no institutional racism in the Netherlands, but accidents can happen. Fireworks are forbidden but not a New Year's Eve, but the local governments try to keep it save with some restrictions (depending on the area). It is not because many people throw fireworks at the police. The police is respected in the Netherlands, apart from riots (who are very rare), there is no violence. In fact, you are not allowed to insult anyone, but especially not the police or the royal family. I think that is normal. I have lived in both countries, Spain and the Netherlands. Spain has a lot more space and depending on what region you are, life is cheaper. Both countries are more or less the same, when it comes to making friends, but on the street people in Spain tend to be a little more able to make friendly small talk. But it depends on where you are, and that is the same in the Netherlands. To live in the Netherlands without having a job and an apartment before you move is irresponsible. You can have a difficult time. In the Netherlands, it is easy to find a job, but difficult to find affordable housing. In Spain, it is the opposite, it is easy to find affordable housing but difficult to find a job that will pay a decent salary. It can be difficult to receive your salary in time as well.

1:26 the guy was talking about a childrenfest at 5 december; Sinterklaas en zwarte Piet ( Black Pete) and he fell over Black Pete, which, according to him is racist. And out of context it is, but in actuality it isn't. And ofcourse he bbrought slavery up; Black Pete was a remnant of that and according to him Black Pete is a celebration of slavery...which he isn't; a celebration that is. To make it more clear a short history of Black Pete; Sint Niklaas was a holy christian man who gave a lot to the needy and especially children. He also freed alot of slaves by buying them and giving them their freedom back after buying them. The former slaves were so gratefull that a lot stayed with him to help him with giving to children and they became Black Pete.....yeah I know thats weird to call them all that, but hey; this childrensfeast goes back to the 4th century, so yes; some terms are very outdated( granted; Black Pete is from a much later date; more or less since the mid 19th century)+ its a feast for little kids; ages 3 to about 8 to 9, so the story is not made too complicated for the very little ones. Like the term knecht, means servant, wich is quite outdated nowadays. They are the servants of the old man. But servants does not mean slave, but thats how he sees it. So he made it his mission to eradicate Black Pete and calls everyone, who don't want to change this old tradition, a racist....o fun fact, specially since he goes on and on about the European history with slavery; the guy himself is a decendant of slavetraders. His tribe, from which he originated from, were huge slavetraders back in the day, who invaded other villages and tribes to abduct people and sell them into slavery. Became rich of it.........but we, the Dutch, are the bad guys because centuries ago, the VOC bought African slaves. The hypocrisy is big in that dude.

I wont go into the details. This video is trying to follow up on the success of the first one. In the beginning there were made some good point. But it lacks to see what happened afterwards. I dont say the Netherlands is perfect, but there are ways of making it better. And those roads are not closed. The second part was lacking nuances. To get one detail, not the most important . The fireworks are regulated already a long time ago because of the danger for the people. Thats why buying fireworks across the border in Germany or Belgium is populair. Some would get their hands on explosives used in mountains to create avelanges. But nowadays fireworks from Poland are quite popular. Though is n most recent years the argument about protecting police is used to forbid fireworks in bigger cities. A lot of tekst just for one of the "facts" thats why i spare you the rest.
