Subscribe to Pals channel! youtube.com/@buddyandmikespal?si=b-KqEoXz0VKYVXnR The last time I groomed Pal he did not exhibit anxiety like today's groom, which is why we booked him a second appointment. Due to his stress I sent him home unfinished. The more he is subjected to grooming, the more accustomed he will become to it.
Love your videos but had stop watching this one as it was too heavy handed with promoting Pal's channel. Not sure if they paid you or something but the fact that Pal isn't even that famous and was constantly said was getting a bit obnoxious.
Read your comment and it made me laugh so hard. Seriously though, there are techniques not to scare dogs who are sensitive to bathing. She talks too loud, makes noises like shhhhh that scares them, she spends no time grooming before hand to get them to trust her, loud equipment, no soothing music. She is awful!!!!!!!!!!!
@cefarther3945 She is not 'awful'! How do you expect her to clean and dry this dog without the noise of water or a dryer? She put a hoodie on the dog to help muffle the noise for him. You must not have attended many dog grooming sessions before.🙄
If he could speak, everyone for miles around would hear about how he was nearly murdered in this horrible torture palace. He's not a drama queen, he's drama von baron.
@@lillyblue3640 We know that. It's funny because the dog over-reacts to the situation. It's also sad because we can't explain it to our dogs. I feel bad when I bring my dog to the vet and she tries to cower under the furniture, but it's still better to bring them than not.
My favorite part is when he just succumbed, laid his head on the edge of the tub, looked at the wall, and just low key wept, “it’s ok, I’m dying, I’ve accepted my fate, tell my dad I love him.” Happy Thanksgiving from the U.S. everyone! Grateful for Vanessa’s loving kindness for all these beautiful critters.
Dog's writing his final message to his father in a 1700s setting at candle light and a quill _"Dear Father, I write to you in earnest plea, my time is short and I must confine in you the terrible fate of my life, a human of unmatched disagreement has constricted me to a cell of unimaginable horrors that I must beseech you to arrive with haste to my last know whereabouts before it is too late. I pray this message finds you and that you deliver me from this machination of this human delight and now bane of my existence. With love and many kisses to you father, Buddy 🐾 PS: Borf"_
Yes had several and do love them, which is why I did not like what was being done, and being ignored when he felt he was in mortal peril. She should have stopped.
@@ThankGodEverySingleDayits sad that you must explain to someone...🤦🏻♀️ jesus im italian , english is not my mother tongue, but I understand the sarcasm !
What a good boy he is. So anxious, yet not even a hint of wanting to use his teeth, just pitiful whining. Well, he will have an epic story to tell to his buddies, next time he meets them at the doggy park. The tale of how he was taken to a dungeon, where huge monsters tried to kill him, and how he managed to defeat them all, to return victoriously to his dad.
my dog, who's an American Alsatian came over to watch when she heard Pal whining, she kept cocking her head back & forth for like at least 2 minutes straight. She looks a lot like a german shepherd, but when I saw the claw trimming, I was like "wow, look how dainty his claws are" When I bring my girl in to the vet for claw trims the vet is always like "I gotta get the heavy duty clippers for this one". My favorite part of the video is when Pal goes out and sees his dad. He's so happy!!
Sounds like the American Shepherd is more like the Australian Shepherd. I have always had Alsations, which are German Shepherds. Lovely breed. They should be treated with more sensitivity than this one was. Gentle and a little at the time, until they do eventually get used to it. Not cruelly carrying on regardles. Just to get a longer video to show. Not good!
I am a cat lady but this has become one of my fave youtube channels and I'm learning so much about all the different dog breeds and their personalities. This groomer is such a trooper and thanks for all the delightful, stress-reducing content.
@@fredeagle3912 I would NEVER get my cats groomed. Not natural as they are capable of washing themselves. Only ones who MAY like the water are Bengals (not all) and the fisher cats who have webbed feet. Otherwise its cruel. Although We groom our dog I would NEVER send to someone like this who just carries on to get a long video, when the dog is badly stressed out and clearly terrified.
I got to puppysit a German Shepard and it felt like I had my own personal bodyguard. He was such a sweet boy. It's funny that some are so brave about protecting their owners but not so brave when it comes to bathing.
He would be brave while bathing, but they need to trust the person. If you got their trust, they'll let you do anything to them. Also the dog you were sitting was protecting you. They're bred not to leave your side. That's why it's extra stressful for them not to be with a person they trust. Pretty much a 24/7 dog, but a great one. Greetings from Germany lol
@@rebel4466 That makes sense. Georgi (the german shepard) must have trusted me even though I wasn't his owner. Probably would not have enjoyed a bath from me haha!
yes!, mine was a retired police dog. he was so serious when he was alert protecting the house but whenever he wanted to play he was like a golden retriever, jumping around and being so silly. one thing that he hated the most was taking a bath he would try to hide or run away as soon he saw me with a towel because he understood that it was time to clean him. he would argue barking and whimper like it was the worst time of his life lol.
We have an old, somewhat racist saying here in Australia: Never trust a New Zealander or an Alsatian dog. As Groucho said, I guess this is as true as most generalisations. Personally, I've found that if you behave like a decent person, and not a c-bomb, both the people, and the dogs are some of the most decent beings you'll ever meet.
Yes, we grew up with Shepherds. Surely the most loyal loving dogs ever. Our dog Bruno would let my toddler sister crawl all over him, pulling his hair, tail, ears. Bruno just waited for one of us to rescue him.
Owner says "Did you have fun?" Pal "Dad how dare you leave me to suffer at the groomers, I could have died " Love your videos. So glad you showed the owner/per reunion. It truly warms my heart to see how happy both are to be reunited.
That's exactly what I was thinking. "And, and, then she turned the rains of hell on me. Then, then, she sent a tornado after me...then she summoned the winds of destruction after me!
That reminded me of my pup when we left him at the doggie school overnight. The next day when we picked him up, he was speaking to us for like 10 minutes non-stop, then he got into my dad's lap in the car and fell asleep. Never left him anywhere else ever since.
I'm betting the neighbors know you clean doggos, but I like imagining a random person walking by and wondering what kind of horrific things are happening based on Pal's reaction. ❤
Reminds me of the time that a neighbour from across the road very subtly accused me of being cruel to our dog because of all the noise he was making earlier. It was all because some birds had landed in the front garden! 😂
We had a random stranger come banging on our door because he and his wife were driving by and heard our Siamese Blue Point meowing and legit thought we were torturing a baby. He was fighting angry and his wife was crying in the car. 😂 I had to go get the cat and bring it to the car and make it meow so they would go away. I was 9. 🤦🏼♂️😂 I was like dude….she just wants her meow mix. It’s ok. 🙄
@@myfinalcutAnimals can make really human like noises sometimes, especially when you hear them through a wall. So on the one hand, kudos to them for the welfare check, but man, that can't have been fun for you. Especially at age nine!
As a first time GSD owner myself, no one warned me about my giant tough guy crying like a baby at times 🤣😭 gotta love how verbal they are, it’s honestly hilarious & they’re such sweet protective doggos! ❤
It is surprising how much they cry over the littlest things. I have a giant GSD and he is the biggest baby of a dog I have ever had. He rivals my neighbor's huskies in yodeling.
This is how they are if you never dealt with this then you should not comment I’m on my second one . My first lasted over 14 years. Had hard time doing the deed but now I realize the pain and suffering. Knowing that my next is going as soon as symptoms it’s not fair these are in my opinion the best dog ever I Love GSD more than any human and yes including my wife. They are the greatest imo? I’d love to hook up and give the truth?
I can bet whatever you want, that the guy in the end of the video is not his dad. People can´t get birth to a dog nor to beget one. Calling somebody or yourself "mom" or "dad" of a dog is actually creepy AF and I find those people really weird. Dogs have only owners. And I´m saying this as a dog owner and enthusiasist.
@@tomaspolak6710 i love pets, but i have to admit, the therms „dad/mom“ or „fur parent/fur baby“ are really weird. A pet is a beloved creature, but it‘s not a child and not even comparable to a kid.
This dog reminds me of my late German Shepherd, she got to 9 years, but she was always quick to show how displeased she was with baths. God, I miss her so much.
So sorry for your loss!!! 😢 My German Shepherd died 3 weeks ago 😢😢 I miss him every single hour!!❤😢🙏🐾🐾🐾🐕💝 He was 9 years and 9 months old. 😢😢😢 I believe that our Shepherds are in Heaven now. 🐕🐾🐾🙏💝💕🐾🐕🐾🙏💝
I love how just when you think he has accepted a part of the process he *IMMEDIATELY* lets you know otherwise. Husky in disguise. I love their channel, Mike's mum is such a sweetheart 🥰
You did GREAT!! I have a German Shepherd that could be his twin. VERY dramatic!! The live music in my church stressed her out exactly like him. I bought a happy hoodie & now she sleeps during services. I want to thank you for your kindness, love, & compassion for these majestic creatures! ❤❤ Oh, & my GSD watched this intently in solidarity for him!!
@@Gemma_626 Yeah, I agree with that. I can't help but laugh at the nervous barking, though. I'm not saying it makes me happy or that I take joy in Pal being stressed. The sound of barking just makes me laugh in general. You're looking way too deep into what I said and acting like you think I'm being cruel, but I'm not.
@@OkamiLyra you really need to step back and re-evaluate this. He's not barking. He is very upset and the fact that you find the sound of an upset and very anxious dog hysterical is mind blowing.
Monica you're not dead anymore 😮 omg when I read your obituary I almost died too 😖 so glad you were able to reincarnat so quickly, I simply must know your secret 😊
@@jazzman1626 My dog loved cats too! A lady walked by our house and freaked out when she saw our German Shepherd playing with our cat. She thought my dog was hurting the cat but when she realized they were playing, she was amazed. My Shepherd weighed almost 100 pounds.
He is a normal size for a German shepherd (Alsation) male dog. The females can be smaller though. Yes very scared so she should have stopped until another day. Little and often until used to it.
I am 100% convinced that Pal is related to our GSD girl who is just as if not more vocal. The shepherd vocals are a WHOLE different level of insane. Huskies got nothing on these buggers. ☠️
Well trained to being a good boy. It was sad to see that these spoiled ball lost good boys who is only outside for an hour or even less crying like a baby. I grew up with German Shepherds because my parents breed them for over 10 years. I`ve been in countless dog show and I use to trained Germen Shepherds. Not only ours but for other owners too. For obedience, for protecting and attacking. They had to know all the signs and all the orders. by the age of 8 months. Protection training had a senior level over 8 month old to make them more aggressive. But because of the obedience training they always know how to behave in different situation. They were good members of the families and tough when they need to be. We trained their intelligence with games too. They were well balanced. They lived outside in a nice doghouse not in our home. And it was alright. These good boy slowly loosing all the benefits of the German Shepherds.
@@ZeRoUnloadThat GSDs should work instead of staying on the couch. They are born for that and they get anxious if they don’t exercise their body and their brain every day.
That's a GSD. They want to be with their person 24/7. You shouldn't leave them alone much. Works with many dogs, GSDs will get anxiety. Perfect retirement dogs or for people who can take them to work or work from home. Otherwise things will be difficult
Of course he's smart, he's a GSD. I'm sure he could be trained with treats and positive reinforcement to go through this process calmly, if anyone would take the trouble. Seeing his distress was not at all amusing or cute to me.
You do not just "book" social media stars without ensuring they have top billing when it comes to number of lines in the script. Pal knows what's up and how to extend his 15 minutes.
Help, help she’s murdering me. I’ll never get out of here alive. What a fantastic demeanour, very vocal, but never once showed any teeth. Another fantastic video. Thanks.
It really depends. A husky is really stressful as they're working dogs and need an outlet for their energy. If that's a given, they're great. A GSD needs "their person" around and they'll be all calm and relaxed. They're bred as 1 on 1 dogs and will always have one favorite among all the people they love. They just lose hair all year long. But regular brushing instead of petting works pretty well. Difficult if you don't want hair around.
My ex and I had a gsd (he still has him) but I’ll be honest, I have never come across such an anxious breed. They need special care and are prone to separation anxiety and aggression. DO YOUR RESEARCH IF YOU WANT ONE THATS WHY THEYRE ONE OF THE MOST ABANDONED DOGS IN SHELTERS
German Shepherds can be such dramatic doggos, I love them. I admit I watched this vid because we had a family dog of this breed when I was younger, and it was like listening to the ol' boy complain about every little inconvenience all over again
He was an anxiety stress-ball, but I notice that he never got muzzled, so you must have never felt in danger of him snapping at you. Good boy, Pal! Hope that continued grooming sessions will ease his anxiety about it.
Pal is experiencing genuine anxiety especially the separation type 😉 but I agree with others that he is dramatic too. Pal definitely has a solid opinion for sure. 🧡🐾
YOU are incredible. The patience you have is amazing. I have two German Shepherds a mother and son. The make LOVES to be brushed even the shedding brush. The Mom is older and not into it so much anymore. But I can bathe them no problem. I've been told they are just a joy for groomers to work with but I have never seen so much drama in a GSD. YOU did an amazing job!
He PROBABLY could have used one, but for a first time interaction with an anxious dog, that is an AWFUL thing do attempt. The big issue is, they _simply don’t know you like that._ A scared dog may not be inherently aggressive, but if they get a sudden feeling of being trapped by you, as someone they don’t fully trust yet? Their behavior matches that of any cornered animal. Even humans do this. It’s reflexive, rather than aggressive imo, because they are typically trying to get away from the threat, rather than harm it. The harm is just that they don’t have the momentary capacity to understand the difference between a comforting touch, vs a harmful one. Imagine having a panic attack on the train, because you have no friends or family around. And suddenly, some stranger is sitting next to you and FORCING you to let them brush your hair. Idk about you, but if they then wrapped their arms around my neck??? I would no longer care if they were just crazy, it would IMMEDIATELY become a fight to get them off of me, and to get out of the train car, at ANY cost to them. Basically? Don’t hug scared doggos, unless they recognize you as a friend. Even then, sometimes rescue dogs will still retain trauma responses, that just makes it a bad move to attempt, ever. Instead those dogs tend to learn to physically lean into your chest (over a loooong time) for a hug, if they ever take enough steps to overcome that trauma. Ultimately. It takes a long time getting to know a dog, to make this judgment call for the first time. Even in younger dogs that aren’t puppies, and even _somewhat_ knowing them already. ANY dog has the capacity to snap at a person they’ve barely known for an hour, who tries to restrain them with a hug. But ESPECIALLY someone who is professionally putting them in an uncomfortable, but necessary, position. They don’t always have the capacity to understand why, or if their owner will ever even come back, unless they can escape. Sometimes they can be comforted by a soft consistent pressure on their sternums (the center of their chests) or the nape of their necks (where their skulls connect to their spines). Hence, why the videographers head wrap _did_ manage to calm him a bit. I only did a few years of animal behavior with dogs before I completely changed direction to cats, so I could be outdated in my knowledge.
He’s so sweet. Just super stressed. My parents raised German Shepard dogs and I was pretty sure I was one til I was 5 years old. It took a while to convince me. Wolf and Sasha are still two of the best babies I ever knew.❤
My husband was in the other room and heard the whining and howling. Without ever seeing the screen he said, “what are they doing to that german shepherd?!” Which is exactly why we built a walk-in dog shower in our new home.
I am actually fluent in German Shepherd, I was surrounded by them from birth until I went off to college. He’s so mad and upset at his Dad for leaving him to be “tortured”. He actually said several times “where’s my master?? How could this be happening to me? There must be some kind of confusion. He would NEVER let this happen to me. Where is he? This is horrible.”
Beautiful boy! My German Shepherd (who could be Pal's twin) has always completely ignored sounds of dogs on TV or online...until now. My adorable boy woke from a sound sleep in another room and, with a worried look, came to see what was happening to this dog to cause such woeful cries. German Shepherd Solidarity!❤️🌟 * We will be following Pal. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous boy.
We had to wash one of our cats in the sink once, and after two minutes of yowling, our other cat came to the kitchen, peeked around the corner, and said "...M...m....eow???". It's ok buddy, she's alright.
