I have two females West Show Line German Shepherds. Are my favorite breed. They are amazing dogs very loyal and very gentle dogs. Specialy for children. they love my grandchilds and protect then with their lives.
@@DogsNowChannelthank you, I’m in my mid 40’s and honestly I’m excited about this dog more than I was getting married 😂 I’ve had a few shepherds and border collies over the years. Love the intelligence and emotional connection these dogs will make. So rewarding, some guys like fast cars and loose women, give me the loyalty of a good dog any day of the week! I could talk forever I’m bubbling that much, like a kid at Xmas. 👍👍👍
I Love GSDs! I have had many over the last 50 years or so. I work with GSD rescues, foster, foster failed ... you get the picture. The ones I have adopted have lived between 15 and 18 years. I cannot imagine life without a GSD by my side!
@@DogsNowChannel My pup was part German Shepherd. I fell in love with her in 1 picture. But who wouldn't have? she was the most beautiful pup I ever saw. told hubby about her, and he got ready in record time. But, to be honest I didn't think she'd still be in the shelter. well, turned out it was my lucky day and she was still there. When we got to the shelter we asked to see her. She greeted me like I was her long lost best friend. I remember the lady asked me if I minded that she was 7 years old. I could have cared less. All I wanted was to take her home with me. We had her for years and she was my shadow. She died by my side 2 months ago. I'll miss her for the rest of my life
I have a Czech working line male and a German show line female. There's a huge difference in temperament. It's all business all the time with the male.
I adopted a SLAUGHTERHOUSE GERMAN SHEPHERD FROM CHINA. At first he was extremely apprehensive and very anti social. Everyone was saying that I should put him down because he was too aggressive. I decided to reach into the wolf that was in his genetic code and bringing him back to being a domesticated dog. I started feeding him raw Bison meat the hind quarters of the Bison and Elks. Then I started making Bison Deer, Elks, Goats and Lamb treats and Jerky. Now he's a total CREAM PUFF! Very often he even sleeps in my bed with me and nuzzles his nose under my arm and neck. He's a KING SHEPHERD and he is one hundred and seven pounds. But he is as agile as a Ballerina.
I adopted one that they said they were not going to allow to be adopted out and I talked him into it They said she was too aggressive and dangerous. Ends up they were completely wrong. It only took several weeks or maybe about 6 months at the most for a complete transformation. She would stick to me like glue whether I was in the house or using a table saw outside or traveling 2 unfamiliar places. She was never aggressive to other people or pets in my presence. If there were people around that she did not know she would either sit beside me or behind me or if we were at home she would go off to the to another room. But if there was an aggressive stray dog or human she would come out and protect me within the blink-of-an-eye. One of the best dogs I ever had. I am so glad that I talked that kennel into adopting her to me.
My GS is an old working dog that retired because he was too aggressive. He just had very little social interaction. Once we brought him home he learned from our other dogs how to act in family and he is a sweetheart now. I think people don't realize how their actions can effect how a dog responds.
Finally some one made a video outlining the 5 types of these dogs. Do plenty of research on the breeders before wading in to any dog purchase. For me a European Shepard is a requirement.
It's been so amazing with my new Dog, though it cost me a lot, but no regrets, I used part of the profits I made from expert crypto trader Mr Johnson, to buy it. Dogs eat alot hahahaha
I have a stable working German Shepard there like really smart my dog is good with kids playful and knows when to be protective it’s always good to train them they are fast learners that’s why I always get German Shepard’s
I had German Shefard black and tan. German Shefards are terrific intelligent, obedient, loyal and excellent in all respects. Really it was pleasure beyond imagination. 👌👌👌👍👍👍
I found a white gsd on the hwy last winter, best irrational decision I ever made was pulling over on a busy hwy and saving my best friend. Named him Hercules. When I found him he was skin and bones and has zero front teeth, top or bottom. Today he weighs 95lbs and is completely loved and spoiled.
Is there a size difference between the work lines? Czech you say it's the healthier of the 3 working ones but are they all the same size except for the other 2 that have slight sloping backs? One day I would like to own a healthy gersman shepherd and I really dislike the sloping of the back so the show lines are automatically out of the list. I would prefer a big size German shepherd that's why I ask about size difference. Anyone that knows about this or has owned those breeds?
I have a German Shepherd I believe is from the Czech line. She's not as long as a standard GS. Very athletic and people pleasing. Great with other dogs, loves human touch, and will return the touch by leaning against you, or gently putting her paw on you. Wants to please her handler, there's no one I would want to be trapped in the woods with but her, she'll find a way out. Mine is 70 lbs, had blood tests done when she was bitten by a tick, she's the healthiest of my 3 GS. Found her on Craigslist, she had to be rehomed because she didn't get along with the men in the young female owner's life. Turns out the owner had trained the dog to a shock collar, but when the owner wasn't around the men in her life were shocking the dog for no reason, so she fought back, she's no dummy. Now that she's out of that toxic environment, she comes when she's called, I point and say "crate" and she goes right in. Had 2 obedience classes, will catch a frisbee, the most loving dog I've ever had. I think she's Czech line judging from this video because she doesn't have the markings of other GS I've seen. She loves to snuggle next to me, any attention I give her, she wants to repay me. Hope this helps.
The working lines tend to be shorter and stockier (heavier boned). The German show lines are slightly taller and leaner (not by much, its really by the individual). Its important to consider what you looking for in a dog more than the size. All GSDs have a ton of energy and drive. they are all working dogs so when someone talks about a medium or low drive GSD remember thats compared to other GSD types. A medium drive GSD will make most other breeds look like couch potato's. A working GSD is going to have off the charts energy. Our working GSD has the energy and stamina to work ALL day, from sun up to sun down. If he were to be kept in the house all day, he would be bouncing off the walls and a little walk doesnt drain his energy. Our German show line Shepherd has less energy but still has a ton. A 5 mile hike doesnt even faze him. Whether your GSD is 85 pounds or 100 pounds its still a bad ass looking German Shepherd. Prioritize Health, Intelligence and Disposition/Temperament more then size and color and you will have the best GSD you could ever wish for.
I hate what we've done to the sloped back GSD. I'm researching on which line I want for my puppy and I'm thinking on a DDR as I want a healthy, straight backed GSD. I found a well talked about breeder around my area so I hope she has good, healthy puppies to chose from.
@@xAspenn False. DDR’s are straight backed. My breeder works with the DEA, ATF, and Homeland Security. All puppies are adopted with contractual obligations for a 2 year bone check with requirements to spay and neuter dogs that fail their checkup. The Eastern Line is heavily regulated by all breeders.
@@wanderingdrifter3163 a german shepherd can have a straight back while also having rear angulation. all german shepherds have a straight back, and all german shepherds have a degree of rear angulation. all standards out there for the german shepherd call for a straight back with angulation. yes, some working lines have less angulation, but the angulation is still there. if you were to stack them, you would still be showing angulation
The extreme angulation and gait of the showline is disgusting, it resembles the Big Lick Walking horses. Thankfully there exist many lines of German Shepherds for those who truly love the breed.
Wow 125lbs that's to much weight even for a male, an average female geman sherperd should be around 60 - 75lbs and a male 70-90lbs so you need to stop overfeeding her and give her more exercise also you call your geman sherperd a king even though its a female.
referring to each line as “more sloped backey” and “less sloped backey” is extremely misleading. showlines do not have a sloped back. in all standards, including all showlines, it states the back must be straight. sloped backs simply don’t exist. the “slope” you’re seeing is how they’re stacked, not the actual shape of the back
Im 21 and considering a dog when im out of law school at 25 Which one is best for a good chance to have a german shepherd with the healthy working straight legs like they originally had in a photo i saw from 1901 sure some still have straight legs but selective breeding ruined gsd imo cuz the older ones are in a lot of pain it seems whith ther legs bent like that and also i hear bent show line legs lead to a list of health issues also because i have adhd i feel the drive and high energy of a working line gsd would help me stay more active once i get a job as a lawyer which i hope to do
to my understanding american - very sloped back and common in american, normaly very large and heavy hind end west german - not an extreme slope, normaly a medium drive, quite agile not very common in usa
@@sbsb3550 get stacking but i've seen american showline gsd that actually have a severly sloped back structurly, some breeders have made a right mess of them
@@lucielocket3203 those breeders are few, every american line gsd ive seen has a straight back, straighter then the german showlines, they look like the original shepherd when they are standing not stacked
East means East Germany, West means West Germany. You can find the German division in DDR and BRD even in the German Dogs. I have always loved these fantastic dogs, but I remember crossing the border to the Eastern 35 years ago, their dogs were trained to be a complete nightmare. Never want to meet one of them.
Help me please I want to understand how to born in gsd become white and blonde but it was mixed with Chihuahua he’s fully black and but white on his chest.. also his gsd mother west show lines not fully black.. I looked up to my puppy is uniquely different from his siblings it’s one strong gene puppy look as her mother but another puppies of 5 look same as their mother but it’s different color same as their father’s color that’s not make sense to how’s it work my puppy born fully white and blonde ?
@@sarahsyers8512 I had a purebred German Shepherd for 12 years, the last 2 were hard for her, I don't want to live that again, I would go with a mixed because purebreed get to a point that have so many health issue, but having had such a intelligent and brilliant dog, I wonder if that is even possible again, I could just talk to her and she would be able to perform very complicated tasks, she did not say words but she could talk...
@@tonyioannoni4951 it’s a myth that mutts are healthier than purebreds. an ethical german shepherd breeder will have much more healthy dogs than a clueless breeder breeding “king shepherds” which are just horrendously bred mutts
Every shepherd dog can work, and is qualified to be working line. On the other hand, many Eastern European so called working GS dogs do nothing but go to shows.
