Something about knowing and engaging with our culture, food, language, etc in a way that is sincere, says "I see you(your humanity)". I mean look at the way we greet "Sawubona", we greet by saying I see you. Guys, speaking a person's language is different man.

The church I'm a member of usually has missionaries from the US and Europe. The missionaries come here for 2 years at a time and within 6 months they are fluent in the local language and comfortable going to the townships and attending dinner with black families in the rural areas and townships. So honestly it's not that hard when someone is determined to learn

I remember in the early 90s, white people were really going out of their way to learn Zulu (I'm from KZN), but as time went on, they just got lazy and stopped learning. I think we coddled them too much, and they realized they don't have to learn. If we stop doing that then they will have to learn again.
