JP I’m probably the last person you want to hear from, but I happened upon your video while doing research into the GSG-16. Great video JP, very informative and answered a lot of questions I had about this 22. I’ve since watched all your other videos and found them all to be very informative. I especially enjoyed your build series on MRA Renegade. Keep up great videos.
Love mine. Only realized a few days ago I can press the mag release with my index finger instead of using the plastic nub that will undoubtedly wear out. Hate the iron sights though. Not removable. You can't slap the charging handle after mag empty hold open. Charging handle has to be pulled back regardless to release the bolt. Cleaning the bolt carrier group is a pita though
True. Unlike the GSG-16, the MP5 doesn't have a bolt hold-open so you have to pull the bolt back and lock it before inserting a new magazine. Since you have to pull the charging handle of the GSG-16 back to close the bolt on a fresh magazine anyway, I figure I'll just use the MP5 method for the sake of "realism". I've done the slap with fresh mags with snap caps and it's worked for me.
@@GallifreyanGunner I defaulted to the slap method when I first got it because it was so intuitive (no previous experience with mp5) , but I noticed quickly that the bolt didn't drop half the time and I legit thought there was something wrong with the rifle. After trying a bunch of things, I realized that even with the charging handle pulled back and locked open manually before installing a fresh mag, I still had to pull it back 1mm before letting it go forward for it to load the first round 100% of the time. Now I just put the fresh mag and straight pull to charge it.
