Infantry Units: German Stormtrooper, World War One
German officers and NCOs would start to experiment with new assault tactics.
This would lead to the creation of elite ‘Stormtroopers’ or Sturmtruppen who would spearhead the German offensive of march 1918 known as ‘Kaiserschlacht’

Well their primary function on the battlefield was to storm enemy bases, not with elite shock troops mind you but with wave after wave of men because the Empire has so many soldiers they don't really care about high loses. I would say they are pretty well named.

They had tactics to a T. Storm troopers tactics lead to the blitzkrieg in WW2 which on its own said enough. Rough that Russia just tossed bottles into the engines of tanks to counter this.

Germany didn't start WWI but because of Otto's unification of Germany 50 years earlier central Europe was a powder keg and Wilhelm II was playing with matches. Austria declared war on Serbia because of the assassination, but Germany was already wanting a fight to expand the Reich.

I remember watching "The Lost Battalion" in high school, as part of history class. I forget when exactly in the movie this happened, but I do remember that, when one of the German generals quietly, coldly ordered "Send in the stormtroopers," my jaw dropped. At the time, I was--and still am--a huge Star Wars fan. I vaguely knew the Star Wars stormtroopers were based on real German soldiers, but having said that, I remember thinking "Oh my God, what *is* a real stormtrooper, who were these guys?" And then when they showed up wielding flamethrowers and machine guns, I was awestruck. Star Wars wishes their stormtroopers were half as badass as the real ones!

I always loved Stormtroopers and their tactics. It is something that has gone in time. Sometimes it pops up, like Les Affreux, The Submersables. After I left the Army, I joined up else where and we had a couple of units that did assaults like this too

Yes, but at same time Germany ended exhausted so western front was a stalemate. German Army exhausted themselves in kaiserschlacht, but British army and French army weren't in good condition too French after Nivelle fiasco they refused to attack but they can still defend. British army after using brute force tactics and napoleonic wars tactics exhausted their forces due the heavy casualties suffered.

Fun fact that nobody seems to understand: Flametroopers did not wear gas masks in combat. They would use their gas masks just like any other soldier, (when gas was present). This is a HUGE misconception that flametroopers would wear gas masks, but it was actually pretty rare to see one in a gas mask whilst using his flamethrower. A more accurate depiction of soldiers wearing gas masks would be the German soldiers in the Second World War that recieved Panzerschreck launchers (which were very rare, and also an experimental prototype that was never launched into production due to economical complications at the end of the war), which required the soldier wear a gas mask and gloves while operating. But literally, flametroopers did not wear gas masks like they are depicted to.

A "complete" one would be hours long, even a "complete" guide of let's say German WW1 gear and uniforms ONLY video would be at least 2 or 3 hours long. The topic is just too big to cover in 1 video. I've been reading about German WW2 gear for 3 years now, trying to get to know everything about it and there always will be some stuff left to discover, these topics are huge.
