We are polish, and make the exact same cucumber salad, except we add sour cream to the vinegar! So cool to see the similarities in the dishes from Eastern Europe!

Kim, I love this video. I remember going to Montessori School and begging my Mom to make themed lunches for me. My best friend in class was from China and she always had the best sushi ever. Little did I know that wasn't a themed lunch haha

My German grandma made those cucumbers with vinegar and mayo- loooved them. She’d use the vinegar/water base for a dressing for either cucumbers, tomatoes or radishes. And I feel she’d usually sweeten the dressing when it was tomatoes. Love spaetzle but also love knephle “noodles”. It’s like giant spaetzle. Loved this video!! Now I wanna go make a Sauerbraten!!! 🤤 #bringmeallthegermanfood

I got a few ideas from this video! My 5 yr old is sooo picky so having variety in his school lunch is very hard. He loves big pretzels though. I hadn’t thought to incl one before!

Oooh yes! my kids can be picky as well, but as I introduce new things we find new things that interest them! :) . They may not eat the entirety of everything I serve, but they always try it, and sometimes are surprised as what the end up liking-- even if it 'looks gross'! :) :)

My mom used to make us pfannkuchen too! Omg best dinner ever! We’d always get so excited when she said she was going to make it cause it was like dessert for dinner lol She’d fill them with blueberry compote, applesauce or Nutella depending on what we had... blueberry was always my favorite! Great job on the video! I’ve eaten some form of all these foods growing up except the bologna 😂 My mom never bought it but she did buy Braunschweiger! I hated it lol

One of my best friends in high school was a German exchange student! Her parents always sent us so many treats! I miss her tons! We got to experience the Nutcracker Ballet with her and she introduced us to the Christmas Pickle! Thanks for bringing back such good memories!

Try Knorrs dill Kauter for cucumbers. I get mine on Amazon or a neighborhood German market. I’m Polish but I can only find German or Russian food where I live. I really enjoyed this video. Oh, World Market also has it.

My mom is German and I took one semester in high school and that was enough (hard to roll my R’s) and I can’t speak it to say my life....well I few words I know lol 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 the Haribo are way too chewy for my liking and yes kinder is the best chocolate ever!!!!!!!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Aurora it's because they're on summer break so they eat those lunches at home and finish them most of the times. When they don't, they eat the rest for snack

Yeas, but the thing is, that you should boil it for 3 days with bacon, sausage and onion. Then it is the best - I do not know, I am vegetarian, so I have to pick non-meat version. But my grandma always boils it for a couple of days :)

haha I literally took zero years of Spanish but understood that sentence without the help of google. !! That is awesome. My girls' both take Spanish in school - I think it's so important to learn a second language! I wish I would have stuck to one language, I just jumped around. Never too late I guess!!

Did you mean Currywurst? That is a bratwurst that has a curry mix as part as the condiments in there. It's served with ketchup and some curry powder on top. Often along with fries.

I always assumed they tasted the same, until I had a German exchange student send me some, the ones I got sent to me from Germany were a softer and stronger flavor. I was always told it was in the ingredients the German ingredients vs American ingredients, I'm not 100% sure of the truth of that.

It is very true about German bears better than from USA. My sons inlaws live in Germany and said them to us regularly. They taste 100x better ....same goes for Nutella. Totally different entity. Germany's is a TON better

It is so weird that in America everything is in plastic! :D We have all those nutella's, PB's, jams in a glass jar! The taste from plastic has to be different :D And the jars from Italy! Where they with disney characters on it? We used to have glasses after those small nutella jars - kind of glasses with mickey mouse :D
