You have to admire German ingenuity. Seventy-five years after the wars end and how intact and well preserved this place still is. Holy Madonna. The valves still work, WTF. I have taps that are five years old that are on the way out. Wow is the word. Absolutely incredible. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure. Take care brother.

7:20 it is an inspection cover on the pipe. so you can remove it to clean out any blockages with drain rods. finding the original radiators is very rare, as they tended to be taken by the scrap men after the war.

Another very interesting video mate! Amazing intallation! About pipe colours....Blue= Air inlet, fresh or compressed air; Brown = oil, combustible fluids; Green = cooling/fresh/potable water; Yellow = Flammable gas; Gray = electrical conduits..; Red = fire extinguishing system; in general.... In some cases, the rules changes for chemical or medical instalation, like green for oxigen and yellow for hydrogen, etc.. Thanks to share!

Stunning, absolutely stunning. Have never seen Bunker pipes in their original colours before. Yellow is for air being sucked out, and Blue for incoming filtered air. Green is for water (avoid the Green with Black bands, that's sewage water). Black with Red bands is power and Orange/Brown is fuel. Red I think was fire fighting or just "Emergency" related, as Overpressure valves were Red too. Truly fascinating to know no one has seen that in decades. Thank you both for bringing this amazing piece of History to us. Cannot wait for the next video! Cheers to you all. Stay Sat and Well!

This is one of your finest yet, & I can't wait for part 2. I don't know how you will ever top this one, but knowing your work, I'll bet you & the Eagle will find a way. You are right about those things on the walls you called 'ovens'' being used to heat the rooms. Here in the u.k we refer to them as 'radiators'. They work by having extremely hot water pumped through the pipes into them & the heat given off radiates into the surrounding air which is heated & starts to rise, causing convection, pushing the cooler air to the floor, which is then heated & the cycle repeated. The valve is how the temperature is adjusted. The more closed it is, then the slower the water is circulated & the more heat is lost from the radiator before it is replaced, so the cooler the air temp will be. Keep up the good work my friend. Regards Urban Geeze.

What an enormous gun bunker. So interesting to see the railway tracks and the rails that the ammo was hoisted on. Those rooms are all huge. An amazing adventure into a WW2 Atlantic Wall bunker. The noise in the begining sounded like a huge door banging closed. I heard it a second time while you were speaking, this time more muted as if it was further away. Scary stuff! Really looking forward to Part 2. Thanks HH and EE. Stay safe!

Reminds me of the Guns of Navarone, one of the first movies I saw as a child. Also, it reminds me of the old gun emplacement(s) at Fort MacArthur, Los Angeles, CA. It was probably built in the '30s, when the U.S. was getting concerned about Japanese fleet bombardment. There's a small museum there, but no gun tube. That disappeared long ago. When it comes to these big shore-based artillery pieces, their disadvantage is that they cannot move, whereas a ship obviously can move. Hitting a ship is far easier if you can bracket it with multiple shells simultaneously.

Great work and an impressive site. Rail tracks are a nice find. Just want to add something on those. I would think the carts were single units and Pushed by hand. Rather like in mining. The turntable for redirection of cart is only suitable for one carriage so trying to move a train, though possible would be too time consuming. If anyone has more on that, I’m only guessing. Looking forward to part two. Best wishes. 👍

The military music at the intro certainly got us in the mood for another WW2 HH adventure. Like the diagram of the huge bunker indicating the different sections and what locations you were at. That was something to see all the original metal blast doors intact. Yes, those sounds when you first entered was a bit eerie. Maybe the bunker possessed some cell memory of the past wartime activities. Very effective system color/colour coding on the different ventilation/heating pipes. You just couldn't help yourself could you HH. You had to turn that valve. If you can't behave, be careful. 😂 The train tracks and train system transporting ammo to and from inside the bunker seemed so advanced. What a slick set up with the urinals and sinks with the hot & cold running water. Definitely would be some envy from the locals. Just imagine the planning, the money, time, and labor/labour involved in constructing this high-tech bunker. Really looking forward to P2. Thank you EE & HH for another intriguing video. What a fantastic location WW2HH! Can’t wait to join you in exploring the rest of this amazing bunker. Just an observation, but the pipe you see at 7:12 looks like a waste pipe for the plumbing system connecting to something above ( a washroom or toilets maybe), or a vent to atmosphere, and the ‘valve’ you mention is actually an inspection opening that can be removed in the case of maintenance, blockages, etc. Young EE will have some amazing memories of these adventures to reflect on when he gets older, and he will treasure this time spent with you. We have 4 of these huge bunkers Here in Denmark. They sadly enough filled 2 of them up with sand- the reason was that the turist fell into them and got Hurt . The 4 turreted festung lays on the vest coast in a town called Hanstholm. In the area lays hundreds of bunkers and if you can find them most are open , at the bunker-museum you can take a ride in the ammo-train and you can look at the only surviving 38mm kanone from the battelcruiser Tirpits.

The true story of Stytspunkt Hanstholm is that they decided to dismantel and break up the hole festung because the british occupation forces demanded it- they did not want the germans to start producing weapons again (in fact they wanted the danes to buy british goods ) So the german commendant , that had stayed in the festung since 1945 and worked together with the british/american and the danes as long as till the year 1952 , sadly enough could witness the scrapping of all the materiel collected in the festung. A note to that- the germans payed for the building of the festung with the danes own money stolen during the occupation and again sadly they dismantled it so many years after the end of the war - and nowadays the tuorists comes in big numbers to see and learn-

It looks very similar to those massive bunkers in Norway that still have the massive 406 mm cannons so basically they share a similar layout. It is good to remember that those shells and powder charges were notoriously very sensible to variations of temperatures and humidity so it needed carful heating and humidity controls exactly like in magazines in the battleships. Very interesting but I'm a bit surprised that I do not see until now any stencils or writings, it is curious! Really good job again 👍👍

Wow H.H. and E.E. What a fantastic complex and it so nice to see no pre- war rubbish dumped in the rooms, it was so nice to see. Also finding the original paint work on the walls. I guess that it will be eventually be open to the public one day? Thank you for sharing it with us. Take care. John B.

That is a truely massive bunker, for a really big gun. From the drawing you present, I think it could be the 38 cm S.K. C/34 produced by Krupp.

I always thought of bunkers as reenforced man-made caves. It's amazing to think of the myriad of details and features that went into these. There was power, water, beds, sinks, ventilation, passage ways, trains, valves, etc etc. These were sophisticated facilities that were built under terrible conditions. Then think of how many they built. It's a mind boggling amount of material and manpower. Thank you for sharing.

Exactly the same overhead rail system for ammo in UK coastal defence bunkers. They go back to Victorian times. Also, I think I see some light wells dotted around, they would allow daylight to enter the complex.

The Germans used steam boilers to heat the bunkers so not like a traditional hot water system. That's why they have more of a pipe network with individual shut off valves.

I agree that it is sad to see that the ventilation was shut. But, when you think about it, whomever shut it never intended this bunker to be seen by the eyes of men again, so they didn't care if the air got stale. 9:19 What's going on? The ghosts of the bunker don't want you to see what is left there to see.
