They are not trustable after what they did with Zorawar’s Engine what’s the guarantee that they will not do it again with the submarine?

I would approach cautiously with Germany here, before committing to such a strategic relation one should also keep in mind how the Germans are culturally. It is not easy to become friends with a German but once they do they stay very loyal. We are not at that stage yet with Germany and unless we have a relationship of the type we have with France I am not sure we should get such strategic assets from them.

Germany is a fence sitter. The Germans are looking at the Chinese as their major partner going forward. If we decide to go with the Germans I hope we do a thorough risk assessment and mitigation plan. India can no longer afford to drift with the vagaries of other nations internal politics.

Go for Spanish S-80 with L&T...increase additional Scorpene from 3 to 6 with Mazgaon, while also seeking some of the Shortfin Barracuda tech for DRDO designed submarine...S-80 / Type 214 / Scorpenes are all stopgaps our main focus should be to speed-up our own design, manufacturing must start latest by 2026-27....aim of any foreign purchase must be to gain design & manufacturing experience & such technologies / processes where we lack or need support PS - in S-80 design, can there be any possibility of replacing US systems with equally good French, Itallian or other European systems...Thales, Atlas, Elbit & Leonardo have some of the most advanced Naval sub-system line-ups

German side :- Unreliable geopolitical relationship, unsafe hydrogen carrying tank in a war machine. Spanish side :- Not a proven platform, high percentage of import, only single submarine in operational state. Indian Navy be like :- करे तो करे क्या, बोले तो बोले क्या 😅😅😅😅.

Same problem with Spanish submarine as they are using huge amount of American technology. This news just got out yesterday as the Indian Navy personnel who went to Spain after Germany, noticed that Spanish S80+ is using a massive amount of American technology. If India has any self-respect they shouldn't buy those guns, its hardly any sweet deal or package, infact its laughable. If they want to sweeten the deal, then give ToT of MTU/MAN Submarine/Ship/Marine Propulsion Diesel Engine Tech. Its a f****ng multi-billion deal not some khula change value deal. It would have been great if they showed same interest, in regularly investing in DRDO's AIP, even if it was somewhat low powered, untested etc... You make your own tech & not beg for every available one. Giving peanuts in R&D & facilities plus under-staffed treatment to DRDO, leads to this type of situations. From 2000 onwards it should have been done. But why invest, when we can waste tax payers money in name of nat security & bypass any debate or discussions. Pathetic show of any strategic thinking!

Germany has too many wokes in charge. They could stop supply of spares over some imagined excesses of Indian forces in Kashmir or some such thing. France is a better partner. The MESMA AIP is proven and we already have considerable experience with French subs. Besides, we can also get unofficial consultations on Nuclsar propulsion technology.

Anything could happen with another leadership change in Germany. They could back to putting an embargo on Indian defence exports and for that reason, a country like Germany which loves to preach to others and place defence embargos, should be avoided for such a critical program.

Go for the product which is affordable and provides more TOT. U can't run away from american subsystems in western equipments..its inevitable. Even our Tejas mk1 and mk2, IAC vikrant has considerable amount of american subsystem. I think Spain can offer sweet deal.

I have failed to understand why can't we go for Scorpene with DRDO AIP.. If we go for 9 boats. ( 4 LNT , 5 MDL ) then it will be way cheaper. And we'll get first one within 4 years.

Better scrap this, go with DRDO Scorpene. Cheaper and reliable. Germany can always reimpose the embargo when leadership changes.

Germany is not gonna give full TOT. Spain is not practically experienced. We've already faced a bitter situation with Germany before. This time, we should go with Spain. They're even ready to share the Tech. Or do a collaborative research and build in coalition with anyone of these Two for future generations of Submarines. TOT is important for us now. But technology also improves with time. If we do collaborative research then both countries can take the fruits of the research later.

We can ask spain to indigenous imported components which are possible and add indian or from where india may want from those components if they are fine we can go with them if their API give good result, unproven should not be argument coz that's might give us cheap deal there so we can spend some fund on R&D for next submarines to make sure they will from india.

The S80 Submarine from navantia underwent so many trials and failures and years of development and billions of dollars in losses to the Spanish economy so the government of Spain will be very keen to recoup their losses by hoping to get this project with our Navy. I think the navy should go with a more experienced platform that is proven like the german submarine than the Spanish one which is still unreliable and yet to prove its mettle in the deep seas

This deal is an option for air independent propulsion system, in case indigenous air independent propulsion system proves reliable and successful, in that situation and circumstance would have consequence.
