Arrigo sachhi never convinced me as a coach...italy was a power house in the nineties full of big names..had they have a better manager...they would have won many titles...
The fact that the top Serie A scorers that seasons, Bebe Signori and Igor Protti, plus Roberto Baggio and Gianluca Vialli, were all excluded from the final Euro squad was the main reason of this disaster
Sacchi, his ego and his immovable systems. Ridiculous how he treated Baggio, Signori, Mancini and Vialli. Only made the World Cup Final in 94 on the back of Baggio's heroics. Let's not forget his Milan success was on the back of the best 3 Dutch players and the best Italian defenders of a generation.
@@frankcolettaItaly has never been consistent. I could name too many World Cups and Euros in which they performed poorly despite having amazing teams. Germany on the other hand was always much more consistent.
This draw was the first significant result Germany had over Italy because it eliminated them after most of their crucial meetings ended in Italian victories
What means significant result. They tied them a lot of times before. At the '88 Euro Germany won the group against them and tied them. In '78 at the World Cup another tie. At the '62 World Cup another tie. Germany had nothing to play for in this game bc they were comfortably in first place already.
I don't know how Italy and Germany even ended up in the same group. Germany were the '92 Euro finalists. Italy were the '94 WC finalists. Both were easily among the four best teams in the world at that time.
Sacchi was terrible for the national team. Beppe, manchini, vialli, ravanelli, all barely played for Italy. It's crazy that such a golden age underperformed internationally to this degree, they had the talent to dominate the early to mid 90s.
time fly since 96 to now is like blink of eye I remember entire Italy they did everything , Zola ruin game , one of the best performance of Italy overall but with no goals , however they revenged in best way possible semi final world 2006 in Germany
@@joevolcano6720 I mean, Andy was the most consistent Goalkeeper of Germany during all the years of his career. At the latest after Tony Schumacher he should have played for Germany as number One, I mean 👍
