Really only american news does not. Journalism is supposed to criticise. Not wave flags. But US news is corporate. And therefore has to be angled, packaged, marketed and sold to a target customer. And that targeted customer may not want criticism.
DW News is actually tax funded as part of foreign relations. The other broadcasters are publicly funded, but not tax based, so they are financially even more independent.

They did get real about geopolitics. But they need to get real about the way they conduct it. They should get to Realpolitik principles. And this applies to all Western countries. It's the reason France was kicked out of the Sahel region by Russia.

While the West wants to believe that all people have the same values , the truth is they don't. Most people are not impressed by kind words, and are sick and tired by moral lessons coming from the West. Most people respect power. You have to project power, if you want to be taken seriously. Only way to do that is to be militarily powerful. "If you want peace, prepare for war." - This is the reason we have war in Europe now, because Europe was not prepared for it.
This is so embarrassing… Germany needs to be giving 15-20 billion to Ukraine this year to proportionally support then compared to the US. Not slashing support. Insane to wait for the war to reach your doorstep instead of crushing Putin in Ukraine now. The lack of intelligence is so alarming I practically have a panic attack.

@@ShakibBaig1 NATO is a DEFENSIVE alliance. I hate war. But the women, orphans, and soldiers of Ukraine deserve our support against Russian genocide. It is justice to resist an attacker. It is also in our self interest as Putin will eventually bring war to NATO and non NATO countries. PUTIN MUST BE STOPPED.

"We should be aiming to win." he said. Very brave words indeed, although one thought that in 1914 and 1939 they aimed to win. Could just be I was deluded to think so. Wrong lessons learned from history Germany, and you shoud really know better.
If you look at how Germany has supported Ukraine over the last two years they have consistently delivered at least double of what was originally budgeted. I am sure that this year will be no different.
they've included "humanitarian aid", which is what most of German assistance consists of. Ukraine has asked for arms, not hosting draft-dodgers. The only people who like that are the Russians.
This makes me question, so why should we in the US continue to provide military aid to Ukraine, continue to keep troops stationed in Europe, while the biggest economy in Europe cuts support for Ukraine? Ukraine is the EUs problem, yet you have all this European countries cowardly allowing the Russians to dictate the outcome of things.

All his bios I could find just talk about his professional life and that is exclusively European centric. (Wrote a Book about Ukraine, works for the German council for foreign relations etc.)

Estonia, don't show the enemy the extent of your fear (concealed behind concern of the Ukraine situation). The tone of the interviewee makes it blatantly visible to anybody, and Russia can smell fear better than anyone else, even with far less evident signs of it. Get your act together, Estonian fellow.
What do you people not understand? Europe (EU) and NATO already has what it wants from "Eastern Europe". Ukraine is not part of Europe's security. Never has been and if it had been it would have been part of the EU a decade ago. You know that and you know the most important players were already added to the roster. NATO has been telling Ukraine NO since like 2008 but they do not understand the meaning of the word. Nobody wants to deal with that level of ignorance.
